    1. SE PA Pyles
    2. Hello cousins- I am cc'ing Ms. Pyle in case I do this incorrectly. I hope that she could forward it if I have. I am looking for other descendants of the Pyles in Chester and Delaware Cos., PA. I have copied pages and pages of MM Minutes on the Pyle family and would like to find links betwen them while possibly helping people out with otherwise unknown dates and information. Like most of you, my husband is related through line(s) leading back to Nicholas of Bishop's Canning in Wiltshire, England. Please email me, especially if you live in that area. Ireside in Wilmington, DE and would love to find an active research buddy as I am a new resident here. Anyone care to introduce me to local research? Erin Peters

    1. Computer Woes
    2. Hey Pyle gang! I maybe off line a few days. I have an intermittent hardware problem and on Friday, 11/14, I will be putting the whole mess in the shop for an overhaul. I will not unsubscribe to the list, but will be temporarily unable to correspond. I guess the computer is mad at me for ignoring it while I was recovering from surgery these last few weeks. Anyway, can still get mail til Friday. Rita "Pyle" Davis Atlanta, GA

    2. Hi all, We want to welcome Jeanie Reed to the PYLE family list! Jeanie, when you have time please tell us about the PYLE(s) line you are researching. BTW, if I have overlooked new list members lately with a welcome message, please let me know. I have been rather distracted recently with some problems here and certainly don't want to overlook anyone. Thanks. Sara Plano, Texas

    1. Missouri Records
    2. Hi all, Interesting that Roger found that Missouri marriage record site. I was on the Ancestry site one evening and found some other PYLE(s) records. Don't know the connection with these two men but here it is. These were some entries from Missouri newspapers, THE FULTON TELEGRAPH (Calloway Co.) and THE CALLOWAY COUNTY WEEKLY GAZETTE. Walter C. PYLES, age 42, d. 17 Jan 1921, date resported 20 Jan 1921. Walter PYLE PALMER, b. 12 Feb. 1865, d. 28 March 1921, reported 5 April 1923. There must be some connection between the Pyles family and the Palmer family in that county. Sara Texas

    1. Piles Marriage Records
    2. Well I was doing some surfing Saturday night and found this website with the marriage records for Reynolds County Missouri. There are several Piles listed in these marriage records. I was able to match several to my blood line, but there were others I can't place to family (yet). These marriage records cover the period 1870 to 1891. http://www.mindspring.com/~sapart/index.html Roger bigblkvet@aol.com

    1. Walter L. Pyle
    2. Dawn Myers
    3. Hi Group, I helped Mom clean out her attic this weekend and came across a medical book (on personal hygiene) written by Walter L. Pyle, A.M., M.D. The first copywrite was in 1900 by W.B Saunders Company in Philadelphia. The second copywrite was in 1915 by the same company. It says Walter L. Pyle lived at 1931 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, PA. I found a Walter Little Pyle, born 12-20-1871, in the Pyle "Blue Book", page 17, who was the son of William J. Pyle and Sarah Lane Thomas of Chester County, PA. Does anyone know if this Walter became a doctor? Walter Little Pyle is a descendant of Robert Pyle and Ann Stovey. If this is the same Walter Pyle, he would be my 5th cousin, 3 times removed. Is anyone closely related to him? According to the "Blue Book" this is how he relates to Robert Pyle: 1 Robert Pyle and Ann Stovey 2 William Pyle and Olive Bennett 3 Isaac Pyle and Elizabeth Darlington 4 Job Pyle and Ruth Harlan 5 Joel Pyle and Olive Carrington 6 Brinton C. Pyle and Eliza Ann Taylor 7 William J. Pyle and Sarah Lane Thomas 8 Walter Little Pyle Walter's middle name may actually be Lytle since it was his maternal grandmothers maiden name. Thanks, Dawn

    3. Linda, I am researching Susan PYLE, b. 1819 PA. Father was Jonathan PYLE. Susan married Andrew KAHLER January 1837, and they moved to Morgan Co., OH. I wonder if your Joshua and my Jonathan could be related, as the dates would fit. I know nothing else about my PYLE family. 3. Does anyone know anything about the PILE (PYLE)family that lived in Clayton twp Adams Co. Illinois in 1850. The census lists several that lived close to each other. I would assume that this indicates that they were probably related. Daniel appears to the the oldest and possibly the father. I have traced my gggrandfather Robert back to this vicinity. He married Temperance (Tempy) Clark on 19 Mar 1848 in Brown Co., IL. In 1850 they lived in Clayton twp, Adams Co., IL and in 1860 they lived in the adajacent Pea Ridge township, Brown Co., IL. They had the children: Alfred,Henry,John,M.E.(?),W. Elbert,Robert,Newton, and probably Lina. I have not yet unraveled the relationships of the PILES in the 1850 census, nor have I found out for sure who Robert's parents were.

    1. Piles, KY and IL
    2. Hello all, I think (emphasis on think) I have narrowed down my PILES to Edward Piles, living in Vermillion Co., IL at the time of the 1830 census. Wife Mary (probably), and several children. A William Piles lived fairly nearby, possibly a cousin or brother? Edward probably died within the next year or two, as his wife remarried in 1832, to James Ruckman. If I have the right Piles, he was probably born in KY, as were his wife and at least some of the children. Does this ring bells for anyone? And best wishes to Rita for a rapid recovery. Those of us new to the list have been hearing very nice things about you! Dixie Jordan Rusty6356@aol.com

    3. Craig: I've been out of touch lately recovering from surgery, but I may have some info on this. The name "Marion" makes me think we may be "barking up the same tree.:)" My ggg grandfather was William Rowan Pyle b. 1821 from Floyd County, GA. He and his family migrated to Arkansas around 1854. I'm sure some of them "stopped off" in Alabama and settled there. Do you have any dates or other info that might help me help you? Also, give me a day or two to check--I'm still recovering and don't always feel like working too deeply or too long! Sorry! Rita Pyle Davis Atlanta, GA

    3. Dear Cousins: Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, e-mails, cards, etc. during my recent recovery following my surgery. My surgery was Oct 7, and nearly a month later, I'm finally able to descend the stairs to my basement/office where the computer lives. I've thought about you all many times while recuperating, hoping you'd have the mysteries solved by the time I returned. Oh, well! ;) Since I am sure we have many new members who never heard of me, my Pyle descendent died in Arkansas, came from Floyd County, GA, came from SC? VA? PA? William Rowan Pyle, b. 1821 in Georgia. He married Parmelia Ann Ward b. 1828 in GA, and about 1854 they moved to southwest Arkansas and were early settlers of Columbia County and Union County. Brothers to William Rowan may be Henry b. 1824, Francis M. b. 1826, Charles b. 1840. Their father MIGHT have been John, Jr. b 1800, son of John and Mary Maxwell. I do believe my search will lead me back to the PA Pyle family from Wiltshire. I have a lot of common names with some of you in my line: William Rowan, John Henry, Francis Marion. And of course, Samuel, Robert, Nicholas... Thanks again for the well wishes. I'll be checking e-mail every two or three days for a little while now, then back full time in a couple of weeks. I missed you guys! Rita Pyle Davis Atlanta, GA

    3. Lynn, Thanks, Lynn, for the information on the Jonathan Pyle/Jane McCarroll children. I've been curious about Susan's family for so long. The PYLE e-mail list was certainly worth a post. 2. Linda: Hi! Wow, what an undertaking! I operate a Wells site for my family's research and have been compiling a database of Wells' for look-ups. I am researching the Pyle on my hubby's side and have put together quite a little bit of info myself. If you'd like, I can send (or exchange in person as I live in Wilmington) you outlines, reports, and/or family group sheets from my FTM file. I would also be willing to give you a copy of the GEDCOM. If you should need any help with this project, I could help as well. I have documented most information through MM records, and gravestone info from the MH burial grounds, Chester Bethel Cemetery, Siloam Methodist (in Bethel) and others. I have also gotten some of the info from PA Vital Records books that have grave inscriptions in them. For the most part (although I was tempted to go from family recollection) I have been very careful to stick to reliable sources. Erin Wells Peters 2722 Jacqueline Dr., M-16 Wilmington, DE 19810

    3. Ron, I do believe you have steered me to the right Jonathan PYLE. His daughter Susan married Andrew KAHLER, a great uncle of my late mother-in-law. I will look up the book "Ohio, The Crososroad of our Nation" for more information. I have quite a bit of information on Andrew's father Jacob KAHLER's presence in early Morgan Co., OH if you are interested. Thanks so much for your helpfulness.
