I am a Pyle descendant, but just out of curiosity, I attended Thomas W Pyle Junior High school in Bethesda, Montogomery Co, Maryland. Anyone know who he was? I went there in about 1965-1968 and the school was 'modern' but not brand new. Probably built about 1955-1960. Debbie
I am new to the list after receiving my GGrandparents Marriage Certificate. My GGrandmother was Louisa PYLE, who married Alfred CADDIE 14 April 1868 at the Parish Church,in the Parish of Islington(London),in the county of Middlesex,England. This is my first knowledge of the PYLE family name in our family.Louisa's father was John PYLE a florist, and there was another witness to the ceremony...Susannah PYLE(?relationship).Their children were Alfred James Pyle Caddie,Ernest Hand Caddie,Minnie Caroline Caddie,Louisa Beatrice Caddie,Albert Caddie, and Cecily Mae Caddie(my Grandmother). If anyone can give me any more info it would be gratefully appreciated...Chris,Ontario,Canada
Hello Anita, A while back I passed on to you what I could about Joshua PILES of Iredell Co NC and Marion Co IL (died there c1829). I believe Joshua was a son of Richard PILES and Rachel ____ (who appear as husband and wife in an Iredell Co NC land record). Your posting indicated your belief that Rachel's maiden name was TEMPLETON. That seems entirely possible, since the PILESs bought part of a John TEMPLETON tract in Iredell Co NC in the early 1790s, and they lived side-by-side into the early 1800s. I'm hoping you can give me a quick reading on the source of the belief that Rachel was a TEMPLETON. This is my direct line (Rachel was my 7G-grandmother), and I'd love to be able to bounce back in time that one generation. Hoping to hear from you. Jim Smee Pittsburgh PA
In April, Jos Sharp posted a message asking about children of Ebenezer Pyle. A Family Tree Maker website for Ebenezer lists children mentioned in his will: Isaac, Stephen, John, Thomas, Samuel, Mary Elizabeth, Joseph and Sarah. Also says that Isaac married Orpha Addleman and moed to Wayne County, Ohio. This is about all the information there is.

Hi Everyone, I was very excited to find a list dedicated to the Pyle family!! My grandfather was George Elmer Pyle (he went by Elmer) and he was married to Beatrice Overholt. Our family is from Sherbrooke Township, Haldimand County, Ontario Canada (near Dunnville). I'm just starting my search for ancestors. I believe Grandpa Pyle's father's name was John, but there are a number of John Pyles who lived in the area, so it may be difficult for me to trace my roots. If anyone has any information on this branch of the family, please let me know. I will be away for the next two weeks, so I won't be posting any more messages until I return. Debbie Pyle Verhoeven
Hi Listmembers! A distant cousin and I are working on our PYLES family line. She has recently gotten information on two possibly new members of our line. They are Willellminia PYLES who married Vincent Cauthorn and Magdalen PYLES who married James Cauthorn. Does anyone happen to have any information on either of these two women? They would have been born between 1710 and 1730 in Virginia. Thanks for your help! Terri Andreasen [email protected]

Aunt Frances married Wilson R. Bratton in 1855 and her sister Mary married Benjamin Bentley before they left Vermillion County. Martha married Albert Smith in 1861 and Mariah married Mark Jones in 1867. Martha's husband administrated the estate of Robert and Martha and sent William his share in 1867. According to records at Georgetown, Texas the probate of Robert and Martha's will was August 28, 1865. They were buried in Williamson County, but burial records indicate that Robert and Martha were buried in Taylor, Texas and Texas history tells us that Taylor did not become a city until 1871. Frances Pyle Bratton passed away on December 3, 1896 and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in the old section in Comanche, Texas. Comanche is a small town in the middle of Texas. Wilson married his housekeeper Laura A. Poituvent following his wife's death. Wilson died on September 27, 1905 and is also buried in the old section of the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. Fannie Bratton a 16-year-old was living in the home of her Aunt and Uncle John and Mary Smith during the 1880 census of Florence, Texas. The Smith's were related to Wilson's stepfather. Hi! I'm looking for information on my great-grandfather. His name was Joseph Dey Pyle. My dad says everyone called him J.D.. He was a wildcatter from Texas according to family members. He married Birdia Mae Beck in Wheeling, WV in June of 1893. They had two children. Marion and (Calvin) Wayne. He was also married a couple of other times but I think that was before Bird. He had another son in PA by the name of George and George had a daughter who is living in the northern part of WV somewhere. I can't seem to get anywhere with my search and am hoping someone out there may know something about my branch of the family. Thank you very much! Debbie Pyle Bradshaw
