Hi Wilt, Yep, probably a cousin, I've found my line all the way back to John (1594). It goes thusly: Ronald Mercer Jr., Ronald Mercer, Carleton J., Cloud, Joseph, James,Joseph, Joseph, Robert, Nicholas, and John. If you see where we can share - let me know - Ron. Hi. I am new to this list and am researching the line of my grandmother, Kate Elmina Pile. Her father was Richard Phillip Pile, born 9-17-1842 in Graves County, KY. His Father was Joseph Van Meter Pile, born 2-8-1808 in Washington County, KY. His father was Benjamin Pile, born 1-13-1766 in Virginia. His wife was Ruth Van Meter. This is as far back as I can go with the Piles. Can anybody help me? Thanks. Carol Malone [email protected]
Thank you for sharing. Please send me your source list. Bill, I might be interested in the Canada connection of the Pyle family. I am at a standstill with my search. My great, great grandmother was Harriet Atwood Pyle, b. 13 November 1824, in Maine. Her parents were Unknown Pyle and Margaret Farleigh. Harriet Atwood Pyle married George Arthur Russell Hughes. She died 24 September 1908 in Humbolt County, Iowa. The 1900 Census of Kossuth County, Iowa, shows that her parents were from Pennsylvania and Canada (I don't know where each parent was from). Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. I would like to submit the following information in order to find info.about my gg grandfather William Pyle b. 1805 in North Carolina. Wife: Margaret Allen. Son: David Monroe Pyle b. 1829 in Sumner County Tennessee Grandson: Joseph Fountain Pyle b. 1862 d. 1939 in Christian CO. KY Great Grandson: Lonnie Everett Pyle b. 1887 d. 1958 . He and his wife Carrie Ann Long are buried in Cadillac Memorial Garden East, Mt. Clemens, Michigan. I just made this connection and hope someone on the list can put me in touch with some of Lonnie Pyle's descendants that might still be living in the Michigan area. George Pyle [email protected]
Wilt, I am also from the Chester Co PYLE group. My line is Joshua Pyle, in fact I just found out his house is on the Historical Register in Delaware. It is at the DE and PA line. Linda.
Thanks for the W. Va. info. Barbara [email protected]
It would be very helpful if some of you in England who have access to ships records could post names, dates, etc. of those departing for US and Canada in the early years...1700's or before. I haven't been able to find any trace of when the southern families came since there were no ships records kept at any of the southern ports that early. (if indeed they came that way). I'm especially interested in those coming to Savannah, Ga. after 1735, i,e., after the two ship loads that Gen. Oglethorpe brought over. We know ours were not in Oglethorpe's Colony. John and Samuel were in Oglethorpe County in the late 1700's. Someone in our family mistakenly thought CO meant COLONY instead of COUNTY; but they are not listed in the records as being there. Any suggestions?... Doris
Sandy, Could you also send the resource list to me? Thank you! Cindy G. > ==== PYLE Mailing List ==== > List archives can be found at: > http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > Copyright 2000-Author retains copyright >
Hi all, In an attempt to cut down on the number of messages sent to the list requesting Sandy's Source List, I would like for Sandy to send another e-mail that describes her list. Locations covered, etc. When she does so, please make a note of her e-mail address and write directly to her, at her address, with your requests. I do not recall that it has any WV locations. Thanks to all of you for your help on this. Sara
Sandy, If your source material includes W. VA. Information. I would appreciate the information. Barbara [email protected]
Sandy I would like a copy also. Thanks ~Helen~ Owensboro, Kentucky [email protected]

Sara & all, Roy A. Pyles, whose e-mail you forwarded to the list regarding the availability of his copy of the Pyle-Pile book, is my uncle. He'll be unable to respond to any replies until early October, so I'm not sure why he chose now to send this notification. I am not acting as intermediary, but wanted to let everyone know why you won't receive a prompt reply if you contact him now -- you will receive one eventually.
