I believe I am descended from a John Persell of Huntington England d.1680 Long Island NY father to: William Persell Bn 1660 England Dd 1728 New Town NY father to: Nicholas Persell bn 1696 Long Island NY. Hi, I'm researching and related to the Pursels of Bloomsburg, Hemlock Twp. Area. My line descends from one Jonathan Pursel, born abt 1730-1750 in New Jersey. He married a Nancy(Mary) Kitchen but I have only "hearsay", no real records of the fact. He supposedly is my 5th great Grandfather. I have no reference to a Reuben Pursel. I believe there may be 3 or 4 separate Pursel/Pursell families in the area. I have found bits and pieces of family groups, but haven't found any ties to my family! I'm currently living in the Lewisburg area and have had some dealing with the Pursel(l)s from this area but they seem to be another branch completely. This is starting to become a rather confusing puzzle... every cemetery I look in has an unknown (to me) Pursel(l) in them. This is kind of like researching a Smith or Jones surname!
