I wish to thank the several responses I got from my Query re my Damon Surname quest. Excellent resonse - Ida Skarson McCormack informed me of the book at Seattle Pub. Libr. The Damon Family of Wayland, Massachusetts, which I've ordered via our brand new Snohomish Library; Robert Damon who is a guru on Damon Genealogy responded on the Damon Surname site of the rootsweb system; and I have been corresponding with an ancestral Cousin who lives in IA who has supplied me with FYI that I needed to know about the Waylan, Massachusetts branch of the Damons, my Grandmother Grace Idella (nee Gibson) Clark's mother whom I knew only as "Annie G. Damon" but my newly found Cousin has clarified that designation to "Joanna Gillett DAMON" who m. John Francis (J.Frank) GIBSON of MA and later Kent, WA. I wish to thank the other persons who wrote to me offering me assistance, and in some cases including their ties with the Immigrant Damon (Thomas Damon). As I get acclimated to the newly found Damon Family(s) I will tend to get back to the various persons connected to this Line, and their branches. I want to pursue the GILLETT name as in Grt Grandmother's Joanna GILLETT Damon as it could be another branch of the family that I need to explore. I did that with Grt Grt GF Jason S(quire) CLARK, and lo and behold I discovered a favored SQUIRE Family surname that had been among the fold and sifted down among the Clark Clan. Later, I was able to find the Squire(s) Line that the name came from. The Damons go back to Kent Co, Eng. circa 1627 so here is another interesting Line to pursue. The variant Dammon appears, also. I am so happy and appreciative of the help that transpires among the rootswebbers and their willingness to help others. It surely revs up the Adrenalin - and at age 78, 79 in Nov. that is very important; and I'm offand running ! I sent my newly found Cousin a package of gen. that will "inundate" her for awhile - probably more than she wanted to know, but I hope that she likes it in the long run. I tried to relate it to her Damon, et al, ties as much as possible. Looking forward to getting together with the Sno-Isle Gen. Society near Lynnwood, WA and the Comford Gen. Group at the Baxter Sr. Ctr. in Marysville, WA in September. Best Wishes and Successful Hunting to ALL: Carroll in Snohomish, WA w7iml@gte.net * * * 30 * * *
