    1. Re: Elijah E. Hersey, 1880 on, to Tacoma, WA from WI
    2. Hi, I could sure use some help with your area of the country. My great grandparents, Elijah (known by Ira) and Alvina Hersey, took the family to Tacoma sometime around 1880. They emigrated from WI where my great grandfather was a lumberman and carpenter. In my grandfather's eulogy, there is the mention of Edison and Grace Episcopal Church. My great grandmother was a Methodist but my grandfather became interested in the Episcopal church there and ended up as a missionary for the church among the American Indians—Mojave in AZ, Ute in Utah and Navajo in NV. I know they were in Tacoma when his son Charles E. was married ca1896 to Lois Elizabeth Haney. I also know they had two sons, Charles Leland, b. in 1897, and Jack Gordon, b. 1910, (maybe a second wife?) I live in OH and unfortunately have never been to WA. I have ordered the 1900 census for Pierce Co. but now have reason to believe they may have emigrated before the 1880 census. What resources are available to help me find them? And what area of Tacoma is Edison in? I have noticed there were state census listed according to local precincts. It's confusing because I have no idea in what precinct Edison is. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks, Marilyn Brown mhersey@aol.com
