I must be the only old fogey here! He was Captain Puget. I practically grew up on he and JP, Brakeman Bill and Sheriff Tex. CP did several historical pieces for TV, one of which was on the Klondike. He and several others followed the trail must have been late 60's or early 70's. A library or museum in his honor would undoubtedly be of use to many readers.
