My reply to that is rooted in Perspective>Legacy>History of WA. State, Snohomish County, and of the Town/City of Snohomish itself over the past 148 years of its inception as a mere site on the Snohomish River: 1. Snohomish's roots - 2nd oldest (1859) site, village, community, town, city in Snohomish Co. (birthparent Island County); Mukilteo barely a yr. older. 2. Snohomish school activity began 1867-69 era. The Sinclair Fam. was instrumental in launching the earliest school in Snohomish, WA Territory in their home. 3. In time, school records began to be kept initiating a legacy for Snohomish schools. The County Seat was at Snohomish City originally. 4. Out of the legacy of Snohomish schools has come a long line of renown scientists, doctors, educators, high ranking military personnel from various branches of service (the result of a national guard armory in Snohomish), engineers, professionals in various fields, judges, attorneys, athletic coaches, big league base ball players, authors, writers, etc. contributors to work forces located in the various continents of the World. Many honors among them prevail. 5. Snohomish District schools has a precedence in the past, the present, and in the future to maintain. 6. The history of Snohomish schools having educated several generation of families whose ancestors and their descendants have carried on the legacy of fine education to the present, and into the millenium beginning in another year. 7. Maintaining harmony within Snohomish District is most important for all school personnel, including the school board, the students, and the parents and population that it serves. That is the goal. 8. The Records of the schools will speak for themselves in the coming millenium, and should reflect the status of the present. If there are problems, such as Snohomish is encountering at the present time, they should be solved, rectified, and result in an effective educational system, as it has in its past history. 9. Snohomish is not unique in this respect, but it is steeped in the history of Puget Sound, it has an unusual longevity, and it is definitely a part of the geanealogical sources of Puget Sound, of the State of Washington history, and it is an important tool for genealogical research and records of a community, among communities. 10. The total of a community is the sum of its parts. The educational system of Snohomish, or any community, is at the heart of the community to produce a well educated product. Harmony must be maintained among the system. Carroll Clark, Ed.M. Western WA Univ. 1964 <><><><><><> ________________________________________________________________ Why pay more to use the Internet?
