On page 3, of "Historical Narratives of Williams County" by Charles D. Grim which is published by the Williams County Historical Society, Sept 1990 (Ohio) I found in the top of the second column: E. Doty had a brick kiln and lived on the bank of Doty Run. His descendants moved up the river. NOTE: In the first column of this page it states that Road number 2 was the second road surveyed in Williams County, 1832. There are a number of surnames listed and "descendants of practically all of the people mentioned in the minutes of the survey lived at one time or another in what is now Williams County."
