Hello all - The Tacoma-Pierce County Genealogical Society in Washington state would like to invite you to our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 1998, in the Olympic Room at the Tacoma Public Library, 1102 Tacoma Avenue South, Tacoma, Washington. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm, preceded by a social "cookies & coffee" time which begins at 6:30 pm. Guests are always welcome! Our topic and featured speaker: Notable Women Ancestors by Susanne "Sam" Behling Sam is a genealogist from Bremerton, a AOL genealogy forum tutor and webmaster of the popular Notable Women Ancestors web site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nwa/. Sam also has a brand new newsletter of the same name. We will visit Sam's site on-line while she discusses some of the notable women included at her site, both famous and not so famous. Sam will also explain how the notable women in her own family tree led her to creating this popular site, and offer insight into researching your own female ancestors. TPCGS will have copies of a new book for sale on the publications table: A Genealogist's Guide to Discovering Your Female Ancestors : Special Strategies for Uncovering Hard-To-Find Information About Your Female Lineage by Sharon Debartolo Carmack. The book is $17.99 plus sales tax. We'd like to ask that anyone bringing cookies and treats might like to bring some made from a favorite recipe handed down to you from one of your own Notable Women Ancestors. Obviously not mandatory, but it could be lots of fun.
