Where has the day gone? I was starting to answer this when my daughter unplugged my computer and started cleaning the carpet under my feet, so I had to move, and I'm back, the carpet is still wet! Andi, I agree with you whole heartedly!!!! However, the circumstances and chronological series of events I was talking about earlier today is all true and all covered by laws already on the books. I hope as you lobby for new cemetery law you also lobby for laws to enforce those already on the books. If you will look at the RCW's, some of the most progressive laws concerning cemeteries were passed in 1996 - have they been forgotten so soon? Also, the agency responsible for historic cemeteries is the Governor's Office of Historical Preservation, part of the Community Trade and Economic Council. It says in the RCW's the Historical Preservation office is to receive funds for their projects from the Governor. However, if you ask them to save a cemetery, they will tell you they have no budget for that. You get the same pat answer from the Funerals and Cemetery Board, "we have no budget for that". Considering the state has a surplus in their budget, why don't these agencies have any money? If this is what you call personal, Andi, excuse me for being personal. I will be anxious to hear what experience teaches you once you get out of your own friendly, cooperative Kitsap County and see what the rest of us are up against. And, I'm not being snide, I love Andi and applaud what she is doing, but the Snohomish Cemetery has presented the most exasperating experience I've ever tried to fight. That is past tense, I'm talking about what was. I'd like to work with some friendly, cooperative people now, please. Norma "Andrea D.
