I rec'd an e-mail with Attachment with the Subject: Book 1 The msg with broken English wanted me to look at the Attachment for my advice. The Source was from Pete McMillan [email protected] I had the feeling that I should not open the Attachment as I was NOT familiar with the Source of the e-mail and the msg seemed too vague. So, I e-mailed back to the above address asking for more information from the Source and tho' it took a few days for a response, I rec'd one that told me that this was a virus and that I should not open it, and there was an apology for any inconvenience it may have caused me. The acknowledgement was from the Name and the e-mail address above, and signed as some kind of business. It appeared from the msg that they had just gotten awareness of this happening on the Internet e-mail. It seems that there are more and more mysterious kinds of e-mailings that are targeting genealogy these days. It is too bad that this is happening but it is well for us to KNOW who we are exchanging with and be very CAUTIOUS as to what Attachments, and data we accept. I hope this will spare someone out there the mistake of acquiring a virus doing what we like to do. Apparently it is the Signs of the Times in all that we do.
