If that's the case, check to see what's there and use caution when you want to see what they are. I have software that lets me look at them without activating them. Otherwise, BE VERY CAREFUL John You wanna discuss it? 3. Hi John, I use MS Outlook Express. I have seen many warnings about virus's, but how does someone know that they have one? Will my Norton AntiVirus program let me know? I don't want one and I certainly don't want to send one to anyone else. Any help here would be appreciated. Norton is a good choice, but it depends on how you have it set up. In the old days on my slow comp I just used it once a week to check to see what was on my HD. There weren't as many to watch for then. The best protection now is to have it working at all times to watch for problems. If anything happens that is suspect you'll get some message about a problem and a chance to stop it before anything is allowed to happen. The way that happens is each time your computer starts up the anti-virus software is installed so that everything gets checked before any changes happen on your comp. You can still 'inspect' your HD once a month to see if there are any problems that got overlooked. That procedure searches for any known problems as well as software that might make unwanted changes on your HD, which is what you need to do the first time that you install the anti-virus software. Some viruses will only bother you, while others work at spreading the problem around like the one that comes in e-mail. Both Norton and McAfee will clean them up. John You wanna discuss it?
