A while ago, there was a request for a funeral record from Collins FH on Harvard in Seattle, about 1904. Thru the mergers and acquisitions of the funeral homes, we're starting to think that these records have become lost. Stu Collins owned not only the funeral home in Seattle, but a casket company up in Everett as well. The businesses were sold to George Jaread who then sold to Cassidy. This is why everyone thought that PWC in Everett had the records of Collins FH. But they don't. Honest. Kathy went up to the attic and looked her self! We (and I mean "we" by all of us at Bleitz, Wiggins & Sons, PWC, Evergreen-Washelli, Acacia AND the Washington State Funeral Directors Association) do not have any idea as to where the Collins FH records went. A strong possibility is that they are still in possession of the Collins family. So there you go, some news, but not good news. I will keep my ear to the ground and will let "Y'all" know if and when I hear of anything in regards to Collins FH. Thanks for the patience!!! And Happy Sleuthing!!! Cynthia Baxter
Just wanted to share about the "good laugh" I had upon receiving the following in today's mail in Seattle, Washington. A sales flyer/promo from The Family News, 1181 S Parker Rd Ste 105, Denver, Colorado 80231-2152: "Contributing Vogelpohl Family members --- in conjunction with The International Vogelpohl Family News --- proudly announce "The Year 2003 International Vogelpohl Family Yearbook" a yearbook celebrating the last 2000 years of Vogelpohl History. I hope everyone on this list is aware of not falling for this when the literature is mailed to them regarding their family name. Just think ... information on TWO THOUSAND years of family history. Audrey - I got one of these as well... "2000 years of KOZY history". What they failed to realize is that Kozy is shortened from Kozachenko (a Ukrainian name), as well as the fact that I've seen Kozie, Kozy, etc. as a shortened version of Polish names too! My husband was actually born as a Kozachenko, and when he was 12, they shortened his name, so we only have 38 years of KOZY history in our own family! ;-) These people will try anything, won't they? Hello Gang This information came through a USGenWeb Project List. I thought some on this list would find it interesting. Amazon.com has a Magazine Seller who is selling subscriptions to genealogical society's bulletins online. I'm not sure exactly how it works (but Magazine Express, Inc. has to be makin' money on the deal). One historical/genealogical society found their bulletin listed and filed a complaint and Amazon.com is working with them to remove their publication form Magazine Express list. Amazon.com... Amazon.com is working with the society... and I've a copy of Amazon.com's letter explaining the steps to be taken. I did find a listing for the Stillaguamish Valley Gen. Society and will be contacting them... Ginny, look up the nearest Sons of Norway fraternal organization in your area either in your local phone directory or online at: http://www.qwestdex.com If you can't make a connection there, see if one of your local universities has a Norwegian class, if so, the prof may be willing to help you out with this translation to English. My Dad used to do this, but he's just too old now to be taking on those kinds of jobs anymore; he's kind of forgotten a lot of the language except those things that most directly pertain to gen. research. Norm, When I was in their office 2 weeks ago I mentioned how some cemeteries put their index on a website, they seemed interested in following up on that idea. They didn't know it was being done by anyone. Sorry I misled you on the form. But they are very, very friendly towards helping people do family research. And the information is at their finger tips. Norman, New Tacoma Cemetery has a website at <www.tacoma-cemetery.com> with a genealogy request form that can be filled out. There is no on-line index to those buried, but they do have it on their in-house computer, which combines the Old and New Tacoma Cemetery burials. We visited there 2 weeks ago, and the office was very "friendly" towards those doing family research. I have 11 in my family buried there. Audrey Cox Vogelpohl Seattle, Washington -- My heritage research includes: Agnesa, Allen, Badger, Bartlett, Becker, Bell, Billings, Bland, Bliven, Boardman, Booth, Bower, Brinkhurst, Brisley, Bromall, Bucholtz, Burdick, Bywater, Chidester, Christian, Christoffer, Church, Clarke, Clinton, Cook, Cooper, Corneille, Cottrell, Cox, Daub, Davis, Dinham, Ellsworth, Felkner, Fowler, French, Gaylord, Goodwin, Graves, Harms, Harndel, Heenemank, Holcomb, Hubbard, Hughes, Hull, Irwin, Kerrich/Keridge, Kettelhut, Klapperd, Lewis, Lovejoy, Macoone, Maxson, Merriam/Miriam, Mills, Moon, Mosher, Neale, Nutter, Offer, Osgood, Palmer, Peckham, Prichard, Sambourne, Samways, Satterlee, Saunders, Schmiginsky, Sherry, Short, Small, Standley/Stanley, Steele, Sterry, Stoltz, Strong, Sutton, Temple, Tharp, Trembly, Updike, Vogelpohl, Wagner, Webb > Is there an index to the New Tacoma Cemetery? Audrey, I tried the cemetery web site earlier this afternoon and the page for the request is no longer availible. It will not let you send a request. I have a letter drafted to send them but thought maybe someone on the list knew of an index. Regards, Norm
Is there an index to the New Tacoma Cemetery? If so, would someone be so kind as to see if Emerson and Franklin are with Susannah. I received Susannah's obituary today and it does not mention Franklin's name as a survivor so I am presuming he died before her. She is buried at New Tacoma Cemetery. Thank you, Norm

Hello Andrea, I am reseraching Pierce Co. Wa and Gilliam County Or. My Dad's folks were from Tacoma and my Mothers were from Condon and Mayville. I still have some cousins in Condon. Georgia Foster fosterdg@skyride.net
Hello, my name is Andrea (Young) Ware. I was a long time resident of Franklin Co., WA. I moved away about 15 years ago, although, I am much closer than I was. I live in Condon, OR now. My ancestors were Jusctice of the Peace, Andrew M Young & wife Mary Hulbert. There son Bejamin F Young. They arrived in the Puget Sound area about 1863 and then left to see what California had to offer. They evidently did not like it, as they were back in 1873. Most of the family is buried in Woodbine, Sumner City Cemetery,Oakwood Cemetery. One of these days this summer, I hope to have an extended visit with a close friend of over 30 years, that lives in Tacoma. At that time she and I plan to do a great deal of searching for those elusive loose ends in my tree. I have already used the services of the TPCGS. They were very helpful in my quest. Thank you! Hope to hear more from the members of the list. Andrea Andrea Ware Sheepy Hollow Farm _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. Researching in the 1920, Washington, King County, Seattle, ED #207, Precinct 137 census (Ancestry.com image 4 of 29) I came across the location of "Institution: Manhatten Flatt" with my persons of interest being family #63, with the house number of 1725 ... but I could not read the street name. The male is a steam fitter at a ship yard. Was "Manhattan Flatt" a housing development such as the current High Point and Holly Apartments? When I was able to read some of the street names, this location seemed to be around the Boren area? Anyone have any ideas regarding "Manhattan Flatt" ... and I could possibly be wrong in that name as the handwriting was hard to read. Audrey Cox Vogelpohl Seattle, Washington
