Hello I am a new subscriber to this list..... My name is Jan and I live in Brisbane Australia.. The reason for joining the Washington List is that I am trying to find a living relative......and I am hoping someone on the list may be able to point me in the right direction. My Relative... left Australia in 1958 and we were told went to Washington...........for several years he kept in contact with the Family..........then the Family here in Aus...... moved house and Gran passed away and the contact just dropped off.... I have through the "white pages on line" found a phone number in "East Wenatchee" for someone with the same name.........BUT no street address.... the site gives further information on the persons listed.......such as approx age...........which is correct for my reli... it also says for a FEE a birthdate of this person can be supplied........this would confirm but wonder how this information can be connected to the phone number... I would prefer to write to the person concerned rather than ring...........after all these years they may not wish to make contact with the family and with a letter ... they can just bin it if they don't want to make contact.....This would be disappointing but understandable.. QUESTION 1. has anyone used the "More information Site " connected to the White pages site...and how often are the "White pages "updated........? 2. If so is it a reliable site........ if you pay for the search do you get the information they say they have.?? and is the payment secure....?? 3. Is there some other way to get the street address for this Person...? 4. If I wrote to My Reli.... Care of the East Wenatchee Post Office.... do you think the letter would be delivered...? Any Help would be appreciated...... If my Reli wants to make contact....I dont want to loose too much more time.......They are not getting any younger... Cheers Jan In Sunny Brisbane...
Hello, Jan ___ in Brisbane. You might try writing to: Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society PO Box 5280 Wenatchee, WA 98801-5280 Their website is at http://www.wags-web.org They ask for $10 per hour for doing family research, but they may be willing to make a free call to the phone number you have to see if it is your relative. Unfortunately, they do not list an email address on their website. You also might try writing to: East Wenatchee Community Library 271 9th Street NE East Wenatchee, WA 98802 or: Wenatchee Public Library 310 Douglas Street Wenatchee, WA 98801 These libraries are branches of the North Central Regional Library. The research librarians in these libraries might look in any available city directories, or perhaps even make the call for you. The NCRL web site is http://www.ncrl.org Good luck. Bob Witherspoon

They sometimes send you a listing of everyone with that name in the US, something you can get online anyway. Much of the time all they have is the listed phone numbers CD Rom. If it is an unlisted number...they don't have it either. As far as a Date of Birth...I very much doubt it. If you want to try for a DOB, go to http://anybirthday.com and plug in their name and zipcode. I have found a good number of people I know being listed. But, far more aren't. If you used the various online methods of getting the address via phone lists...i.e. Switchboard.Com and the phone number is there but not the address; that is the way the consumer has it in the phone book. > 2. If so is it a reliable site........ if you pay for the search do you get the information they say they have.?? and is the payment secure....?? See Above. > 3. Is there some other way to get the street address for this Person...? There are other local online websites such as county recorders office and county treasurer (property taxes), but Chelan County, WA does not have one. Also most are address search vs name search. > > 4. If I wrote to My Reli.... Care of the East Wenatchee Post Office.... > do you think the letter would be delivered...? > It depends on the Post Office in most cases. Some, especially in the smaller towns, will process and forward, but Wenatchee...I doubt it. > I would prefer to write to the person rather than > ring...after all these years they may not wish to make > contact with the family and with a letter ... they can just > bin it if they don't want to make contact.....This would > be disappointing but understandable Ok, you send them a letter and you hear nothing, does that mean they threw the letter away, or never got it. Does it mean they're not interested in family, or don't know who you are...or never got it. Call them, talk to them. If they're not interested, they'll tell you and you'll know. Or if phone costs are a problem, have someone call them locally or within Washington, let the person tell them about you, that you're interested in contact and here is your email address, address, and phone number. Did you try to find an email address for this person? I am a Criminal Investigator US Gov't and have used Internet for finding people; and for genealogy finding lost cousins. But, once you have an address, a phone number, or email address...give up the search and contact them directly. Snail mail is soooo unreliable and with so many unknowns...such as did they get the mail? Ron Bestrom

Here is a brother to Harold James Reynolds Washington State Birth Index, Prior to 1910 - 1919 Parent: Story Henry Reynolds Name: Arthur Hudson Reynolds Location: Whatcom Parent: Carrie Mabel Anderson Birth Date: 03 Apr 1993 Sex: M Race: W This brother was from Whatcom County, also...Bellingham is in Whatcom CO. So the Harold James marriage in 1941 in Bellingham is probably the one you seek.

I checked 1920 census and found none of the Harold's being a possible match. 1930 Census (397) had a Harold J..age 51 (1878) in LA, California, wife was Beatrice, child Mary Wilson 23 Marriage collection shows a Harold James Reynolds marrying a Myrtle Bell Lamport, 14 July 1941 in Bellingham, Whatcom Co, WA. Bellingham is almost at Canadian border. Is it possible that your Reynolds was from or went to British Columbia after marriage to Jenny? There is no DOB's or age for these two, so could be a much younger Reynolds. Ron Bestrom
I lost track of one of my families but picked up a clue that they may have been in the Puget sound area sometime after 1880 and possibly around 1900. The following is what I have on this family. The clue is that their daughter Jennie June MARTIN, married Harold James REYNOLDS, 25 Aug 1901, Pierce Co., WA. Harold was the son of Story H. REYNOLDS and Carrie M. ANDERSON. I would like to make contact with anyone having knowelege of this family, or any one who has a connect to the Knifong (Neufang) family. I have lots of information on this family I am willing to share. Richard Smith Name: A.J. Hi all, Does any one remember the cougar attract on a young lad in the So. Everett area in or about 1940? As I remember my uncle locked his horse in the barn ever night and ever one kept light on outside at night. There were hunting parties and the cougar was shot. I would like any information on this incident that I can get. I would think this have been big news in the Everett Harold. Does any one know where I can get a copy of this article? Due to a scheduling conflict at the Broadview Library, the location of the Seattle TMG Users Group meeting has been changed to Queen Anne Library, 400 W. Garfield on Queen Anne Hill. Note that this library location has no public parking lot, though two Disabled Parking spaces are available. There should be adequate parking on the streets in the surrounding neighborhood. I just reported on the Genealogy of a house, when The Herald came out with a whole big spreak in the Local Section on the Heritage Park story. Big 9.5 x 7 " PIX captioned Highlights of the new Heritage Park that will open in March in Lynnwood include a trolley car (left) that was the last to run on the old Interurban Rail Line and the historic Wickers Building (right), built 1919 as the first rail ticket station, mercantile and post office. It will now be a visitors information center. The Wickers Building is the wainscotted bldg which was regarded as the Interurban Depot when the Interurban went thru Alderwood Manor - it always stopped for passengers getting on or off, and especially items of goods either being unloaded or loaded for further transportation. Here's what the Herald had to say about this Landmark restored bldg project which you will enjoy visiting among your ventures in this "neck of the woods" even tho' most of the trees have long gone: Ref. The HERALD, Everett, WA. Date: Tues Jan 6, 2004 Section: Local Section front page. Site: http://www.heraldnet.com/about Article: New park embraces history By Victor Balta, Herald Writer, PIX by Dan Bates/The Herald Lynnwood's nearly finished Heritage Park pays tribute to the Interurban Rail Line and Alderwood Manor's farming past. An Insert: Buy a brick, help the park - Info as to where inscribed bricks will be placed in the Heritage Park plaza sources. A 2nd PIX appears - a front on view of the Wickersl Bldg -landmark for Alderwood Manor of old which has been regrettably absorbed by the City of Lynnwood. (The regrettably is my own personal feeling as I loved the sound of and being a part of "Adlerwood Manor" where I rented and lived until it bacame absorbed by the City of Lynnwood, a younger upstart that grew in the region - LOL!!!!) I am anxious to visit the site and to contribute to the Sno-Isle Gen Library of many items that I hope will be useful to future generations of Gen Bugs and seekers of history and Info. How I recall that quaint Wickers Bldg as we stopped either going from Seattle to Everett or Everett to Seattle when I was age 6 to 10 or so - I was seeing history as I marveled at what I saw along the way on the INTERURBAN. Wish we had it TODAY ! Carroll in Snohomish * * * 30 * * * COMMENT:

[Forwarded by David Ault, SGS Computer IG Chair. If you plan to attend and would like to report what you learn to our group, please let me know.] Good News: NGS GENTECH 2004 is less than a month away. Even Better News: The hotel rate is $99, not the higher figures your might have seen in other notices Here are the Particulars about the Conference: NGS GENTECH 2004 will be in held in St. Louis on January 22-24. Since 1993, GENTECH has been THE national conference for people interested in GENealogy and TECHnology. Now, as a new division of the National Genealogical Society, NGS GENTECH will sponsor conferences that continue to meet the needs of advanced users and those new to using technology in research. Each year the conference has featured a panel of nationally known speakers who have addressed themselves to every aspect of the use of computer and Internet technology to support genealogical research - to meet the needs of advanced users as well as those just beginning to use technology in their research. This year there will be a Librarians' Pre-Conference at NGS GENTECH on Thursday, January 22, 2004 which will feature talks by Cyndi Howells, Ruth Ann Hager and Matt Helm. Details of this special Pre-Conference are at: www.slcl.lib.mo.us/slcl/sc/gentech04/precon-schedule.htm. In addition to the Librarian's Pre-Conference, Thursday will feature two-hour tutorials on four important topics: * Building a Family Genealogy Web site * Mapping Workshop * Federal Web Sites * Digital Photography. See the full NGS GENTECH 2004 program at: www.eshow2000.com/ngsgentech/register_now.cfm or at the St. Louis Genealogical Society website: www.stlgs.org/gentech2004.
