Thank you, Tom. I haven't had a chance to go back in and try it but will do so soon. First I thought I might have an older outdated card but they should be good "forever" I would think. Hi Blaine, I have found numerous entries for this family in 1900-1920 census records of Washington, California, Texas, and Arkansas. James Gaches (b. June 1843 England) is found in La Conner, Skagit County, Washington in 1900, and died before 1910. He was married about 1876, after arriving in the US in 1872. He was a merchant and a naturalized citizen. With him in 1900 was his wife Rhoda (b. July 1849 England) who arrived in the US in 1870 and was the mother of 4 children. 2 of these children were still with the parents, George H. (b. March 1880 Washington) and Charles E. (b. Nov. 1882 Washington). Nearby was brother George Gaches (b. June 1846 England) and his family of 5. James & Rhoda's daughter Eva Florence (b. Nov. 1874 Washington) is found in 1900 in Oakland, California, living as a boarder in the household of Daniel S. Richardson (24 years older than she). From the next two enumerations, we find that when his wife died shortly afterwards he remarried to Eva and became the Japanese Consul in San Francisco. In Texas and Arkansas we find a large family descended from John H. Gaches, who appears to be another brother of James & George. I have quite a bit more detail on all these families (1900, 1910, & 1920) if you would like to contact me. March's Seattle Genealogical Society Computer Interest Group program will be "How to Use CLOOZ, The Electronic Filing Cabinet for Genealogical Records." Our speaker is Barbara (McGinnis) Raemer, Vice Chair of our Computer Interest Group. (Note: This program was postponed from January to March 2004 because of snow.) CLOOZ <http://www.clooz.com> is a software program used for organizing and filing genealogical documents. It was designed by Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CGRS, the managing editor of Genealogical Computing magazine. Barb will discuss the handling and filing of all those wonderful sheets and scrapes of paper that we collect regarding our families and research. She will show how to enter data, demonstrate the reports that can be produced from CLOOZ, and suggest how they may help you find your documents and unravel a mystery. NOTE: The SGS CIG monthly meeting has changed to a NEW DAY (first Saturday), NEW TIME (1:30 PM to 3:30 PM), and NEW LOCATION (National Archives second floor conference room). The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is located at 6125 Sand Point Way NE, just across the street from SGS. The SGS CIG meeting is held in the second floor conference room. I just discovered a new feature on Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery (Seattle) website. They have memorials (obits) online, not only the current ones, but from whenever they started doing this, I guess. Many include a photo, too. Very nice. Here's a link: http://obit.evergreen-washelli.com/obit_list.cgi?task=All&listing=Current Sherry Steele (Seattle)
I got a similar emails in reference to Yahoo email, Citibank account, Paypal account etc. It seems to be a new angle for malicious mischief. The dead-giveaway was sloppy spelling and grammar, but I've had more professional looking ones. RULE OF THUMB -- most such emails are BAD. Delete them IMMEDIATELY. If you are convinced it might be a legitimate notification from whatever service, check their website or call them first [but not from the email links in the message.] Usually you will see reference to a current attack. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi Everyone I know most of you hate virus warnings but... here's one that's unusual... Today Prodigy users were hit with a virus aimed right at them... Email is being sent to everyone from management@prodigy.net... the email basically says we're goin' to turn off your email for violations... open the attachment and see what the problem is... the attachment is a virus.... I called 1 800 prodigy, the old 800 prodigy number, and the folks at SBC said their phones are ringing off the hook.... The email is NOT from them... I wish you all good luck!!!
