    3. We're sorry, but we haven't been able to unsubscribe you from the usperc e-mail group as requested. The e-mail address you sent your message from psroots-l@rootsweb.com is not a member of the usperc group. You probably subscribed under an address different from what you currently use. To unsubscribe you, we need to know what address was in use when your subscription started. Fortunately, there is a way to retrieve this address. Find one of the messages you have been receiving. Go to the headers at the top of the message and find the "Return-Path:" (Some e-mail programs, like Eudora, optionally let you hide this information. You can unhide it, for example, in Eudora, by clicking the "Blah Blah Blah" button.) Please look for a header like: 'Return-Path: <usperc-return-1234-user=host.dom@egroups.com>' The information in the header that occupies the same place as user=host.dom@egroups.com in this example is the e-mail address you were subscribed under. To unsubscribe, we ask you to send a message to usperc-unsubscribe-user=host.dom@egroups.com replacing "user=host.dom@egroups.com" with the address information in the Return-Path header of the message you received. After that, please reply to a confirmation message we will send, and you should receive back a message that you're removed from the group. If this still doesn't work, please forward a group message you've received together with a note about what you're trying to achieve to the group moderator: usperc-owner@egroups.com We're very sorry for this inconvenience. 3. To "eGroups.com List Manager", A copy of this also goes to PSRoots-L I don't know how your software works but I do know that the system software for PSRoots-L could not respond to your messages to subscribe. Your message below now requests that the List Owner for PSRoots-L send a message to your system with a return address of PSRoots-L@rootsweb.com The software for her ISP nor the software for her PC e-mail system will NOT allow that. Also, my ISP system which I use for E-mail won't allow that. For those reasons, we didn't cause the problem. Something on your end caused the problem so it's your problem to correct. Please do so quickly. 2. To the group: I just talked to Cyndi. The problem should have been taken care of around 4am this morning. We shouldn't see anymore messages from eGroups on the list. The last one we have received was at 3:30 this morning. Please don't email the list about the problem.... Cyndi will make sure that it is taken care of. Cyndi will be in Portland for the weekend. If anyone has any concerns, I would be more than happy to help you out. Cheryl Hawley

    1. Regarding the eGroups messages
    2. Cyndi Howells
    3. Hello folks - I'm hopping mad right now. We are continuing to get messages from eGroups about the mailing list that PSRoots was forcibly subscribed to this evening. I have written multiple private messages to the sysadmins at that group, but apparently they cannot read. They are continuing to send notes to the list, rather than to me privately, so you poor folks are getting copies of all this over and over again. Please just hit the delete key and disregard these things. I will work this out with them myself. I have asked Tim at RootsWeb to block them from posting anything further. Hopefully he will get to it, but he is on the east coast, so I would think he's sleeping at this time of night. As I should be. I'm on my way to Portland to speak for their gen. society this weekend. I hope this irons out before I leave. Anyhow, please ignore the messages if any more come through. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. 3. To whom it may concern - IMMEDIATELY remove the address shown below from your mailing list: PSRoots-L@rootsweb.com We did NOT subscribe to your list and we did NOT ask to be added to your list. As the list owner for PSRoots, I am extremely upset to find that you used such high-handed tactics and forcibly subscribed our group without our consent. Further, it is very bad form and a huge violation of netiquette to have done so, particularly when you didn't subscribe an individual human being, but instead subscribed another automated mailing list. The technical e-mail nightmare that this can create is enough to make my head spin. Again, IMMEDIATELY remove the PSRoots address from your mailing list. Failure to do so within the next 12 hours will result in a report to your ISP and to the systems administrators at eGroups.com.
