No sorry, don't know a maurie thompson. If you need for me to look him up in the Perth phone book I'll do that for you, but it only lists intials rather than first names. Maybe a suburb would help. Just wanted to thank all of you again who tried to help me with this. I was lead to some great URL's and with one that was sent to me I was even able to get the legal description of the land where the house was. Anyway, I have received an email from [email protected] who says they will pull the record and see what they have and get back to me within four or five days!! Please know that I couldn't have done this without you. You're a great bunch of people and all of your information was great! Now I just have to sit back and see what they come up with. Thanks again to all of you. Bonnie Perth, Western Australia Our first day of summer is just a bit over a month away!

In the online Recorded Documents Query for Pierce County, the residence of Ralph was sold/given/ to a Nils E. Linden by a warranty deed in Januayr 1997. The Grantor of the deed transfer was from the estate of Ralph Huse by Muriel M. Boland, Personal Representative. A cross reference of the address of Linden on Switchboard.com to the property records indicated the property was located at 11926 36th Street E. Puyallup (Milton). Switchboard indicated an "M.M. Boland on S. Hosmer Street, Tacoma, WA 253-537-5106. She did not appear in the Washington State Bar Association online listing. She may be a representative of Pierce County; however, this was the only Statutory Deed that she participated, so I'm 'assuming' she was a friend or had power of attorney for his affairs. I'd suggest calling her. Ron Bestrom
In the Washington State Death Index I found a Donald L. Pilkenton, 50 years old, died 26Dec1992 in Skagit County and also a Donald L. Pilkenton, 58 years old, died 11Jan1986 in Everett, Snohomish County. Also found Nero E. Pilkenton, 94 years old, died 03Jun1951 in Lewis County. Maybe if someone on this list is in Lewis County they can look up the obit for you. There is also a reference to Nero E. Pilkenton on the GenForum Pilkenton Family Genealogy Forum. I could find nothing on a Lilburn(Leburn) Pilkenton. Hi Laura: I am an attorney in Eugene, Or. I assume you have already checked the probate records at the Pierce County Courthouse in Tacoma. Next, try an ad in the Pierce County Bar Assn. News, assuming there is one, whatever the name. Then try an ad in the Wash. State Bar Bulletin, by whatever name. Or get atty friends to make inquiry. Every county bar is a club of sorts. There may not have been a probate. Check Deeds & Records at the courthouse to see if any property, real or personal, passed around the time of his death. An obit might reveal relatives. Check the death certificate. Who was the informant? There are lots of things to do. Think like a private investigator. Do a door to door canvas in his old neighborhood. Check the old Tacoma Directories, old as they may be, for insight into what he was doing back then. Jim Pearson [email protected]
I am in need of some assistance with trying to locate the attorney who handled the affairs of Ralph HUSE who died January 31, 1996. He apparently died of a heart attack while attempting to open a frozen garage door. There were no local relatives. Having spoken to him several years ago, he indicated that he had quite a collection of photographs and I am trying to find out what happened to his belongings. Newspaper article stated that Curt Benson, Pierce County sheriff's spokesman identified him. His parents were Ervin and Amy HUSE and they are interred at Sumner Cemetery. Ervin was born in St. Louis Missouri and Amy was born in Canada. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi Fellow Ancestor Searchers, This is a first attempt to use the Puget Sound resource as a means to try to locate family members. I am told that one of my Uncles spent most of his life in WA. His name was Lilburn (Leburn) Pilkenton and was born March 7, 1904, in VA. He had a son named Donald and that's the extent of my knowledge about him. The second relative, a Great Uncle, that I'm looking for data on is Nero Pilkenton. He was born about May 1869, married Lizzie Whitaker in 1909 and Nettie G. Sowards at some later date. I have been told that Nero and his family may have lived in the Centralia area. Children of Nero are said to have been Lee and Lula. I would be most be most appreciative if someone has more knowledge about these individuals, or can point me to the most logical place(s) to begin searching for more data. Thanks in advance for any help you may offer. An Oregon transplant with roots in Wise County, VA.

That's why there is a fee for that. I had forgotten that 5102 Woodlawn Ave. N. wasn't part of Seattle in 1910 so King Co. building permits would be the place for hs plans. I never got around to checking that office. I checked the addr and see that the three adjacent houses are Bungalow and most likely built/owned by the same person, likely ca 1908 - 1912. Those weren't low-priced houses in those days. Also, that addr is about three blocks from one of the oldest houses on Green Lake that got a write-up in the Times about 15 years ago. Also, the Museum of History & Industry is the place that has the file on old or unusual houses in Seattle. I've seen the picture of that Green Lk. house and others there including the one owned by Doc Maynard at Alki. The old one on Green Lake is a three-story house, on a knoll, with an un-obstructed view of Green Lake. Maybe yours is included. Good luck on your research. Hi Bonnie, Wish I could call up the specific memory - maybe it will float to the surface of my brain. I once knew a woman who had researched her old Seattle house and had actually gotten a copy of the original blueprint, which she had framed and put on the wall. Her house was built around 1910. I know that it was a King County department, which agrees with the suggestions from Anna and John. I want to say that it was the tax department but I can't remember. John is right, of course, about title insurance and title searches, but those are private companies and I don't know if the results end up in the public, county records. Let us know what you find out. This is something I have thought about doing on my in-law's Green Lake house, also vintage 1910. If you get stuck doing the web search, we could make a few phone calls to the county for you. Diane Hettrick [email protected]
Thanks to Anna, Virginia and John regarding helpful ideas on searching for the information on this house. I've sent an email to one of the offices that Anna refered me to and will wait to see what happens. I'm also going to whip off an email to the address Virginia sent. It has been fun thinking about all the family memories that came during the period we lived in that house......forty plus years, seven family members, four bedrooms and 1 bathroom!! I still have a key to the back door. Maybe I should send it to the man who bought the house in 1998, but then again...as long as the key is in Australia I guess he doesn't have much to worry about. Many thanks for your ideas and help on this one. Hi John and/or listers, I don't know if you can help me. What I really was thinking of was trying to find out what year the house was built, maybe the name of the builder (he apparently built the house next door and a couple across the road). They all look very similar. I seem to remember that the house may have been built between 1910 and 1920, but I'm not certain. I vaguely remember finding an old newspaper when my parents were painting or something....and we found it very interesting. I believe my dad bought the house from a widow. He paid $9,500. in 1953. I just want to verify my information and write a brief history for my genealogy. After my parents died my daughter suggested we go to Seattle for Christmas a couple of years later. I had to say that we couldn't. Where would we go? The house has been sold. She was in her teens and said "Oh yeah, I forgot!!!" That house carries so many memories for me. It was located at 5102 Woodlawn Avenue North in Seattle (Wallingford area) on the corner of 51st and Woodlawn. Any information would be appreciated. The current owner used to live in the same area and really has put in a lot of work on the house I understand. I don't need current info....just someplace that might have old records. I don't know who has them, but someone must....don't you think? Thanks for any help you can give me. Hi Bonnie, There is a limit to what you can do, if you don't do it in person, unless you pay a fee. I've done the work before on property I've owned, & later went back to "get inside" and see how my 'repairs' were holding up. Don't ignore the other replies you got. The file with pictures is from the 'tax office' and I saw mine when they were in the county offices in Seattle. They are public records. There are two offices but I forget their names. One is for the tax valuation and shows when changes were made, all the way back to the first taxation. The other is for title of ownership and has info of all ownership changes. However, for that you need to know the "who and when" unless you are willing to read all pages until you find the one for 'your interest'. When you buy property, anywhere in the US, you, and the mortage lender will want to guarantee 'clear title' all the way back to origins. That info is maintained by a company that has read all those title changes. To get that info requires a fee, which lenders pay, and charge buyers. Since it is for 'public records' anyone can request it. 20 years ago the fee was about $150.00 The builder info will be in the 'permits' office, but I haven't tried to check on those. I think they are discarded after 50 years, or so. Permits will show when plumbing & electric lights etc were installed, as well as new bedroom or basement added which is included in tax rcd The libraries, public & newspapers, will have histories written. As you can see, it takes time, but it can be done. I'll go by and check on what the place looks like now. Good luck. My family owned a house in the Wallingford area of north Seattle from 1953 until my parents death in 1997. It was an older home when my dad bought it and I would like to include something about this house's history in my genealogy.....since it played such a big part in our lives. I live in Australia and am not sure who to contact and at what address or phone number. Can someone direct me here? Many thanks, Bonnie Menzer Barnes Perth, Western Australia
