    2. In a message dated 5/8/03 6:39:20 PM, theo@cnw.com writes: << I'm trying to find a Domenico Pinelli who lived in Issaquah. He died in March, 1952 as a widower. Buried in the Issaquah Cemetery. >> i checked paper copies of the 1900 and 1920 census for Issaquah and found no listings for Pinelli. While there are a lot of headstones missing from the Issaquah cemetery, there is also no listing for him in thowse who are supposed to be buried there. At the time, Issaquah seems to have been the "big city" (?) on the eastside. At one time the Issaquah school district was defined as Cedar River North. Evidently the Canadian border was the Northern boundary of the district. :D There were a lot of small towns in the area that wouldn't be included in the census for Issaquah. Preston, Monohon, Hobart, Fall City are small towns in the area that wouldn't be included in the Issaquah census so much willl depend on where he actually lived and what his occupation was. On the 24 of May, I will be at the Issaquah Historical Society where the newspaper is available on microfilm. I will check then to see if an obituary exists. It wouldn't run amiss if you were to remind me of that on the 23rd. :D Linda

Court records are a valuable record set that rarely get the attention they deserve when researchers attempt to find their ancestors. Lauren has her own "scoundrel" ancestor who was tried for passing a counterfeit gold coin in 1885! Come and pick up some clues for how to find that ancestor that wants to remain hidden! 3. Look at all this.. curious it is. I had a chance to check census images on Ancestry.com and those definitely are George (Gordon) and Elma. I am astounded to find yet another daughter. I have tracked Helen and Eunice to CA and they are on the death index but now I have yet another to look for. Ione is not mentioned in the Probate records for George. George died in Mason County , 31 May 1924 and his ashes are in a perpetual storage room at Butterworth Funeral Home, Seattle. No one continued to pay for his niche after two years. Since I discovered that, our family may see about moving him since no one else has tried to see about it in all these years. Originally all my searching began because I wanted to know where Marie finally ended up. Though I haven't figured out the answer to that question yet, I have figured out a lot about the family through my diggings and the help of others from this list and elsewhere. So much thanks to all!!!!! It could be that I'll find Elma(Elmo) on the WA death index as a Grinnell again. A few years ago before I knew her first name I was looking over the index at a family history center and found an Elmo Grinnell but I can't for the life of me remember which years I was searching and was short on time that day. Since I didn't know it could be her I had put it aside and not recorded it. Now I see that it must be after 1900. This is like looking for Waldo... but it's Elmo. And maybe yet one day... I'll find Marie. Thanks to all. 3. Hello Kathryn! I am afraid that I did not find Luther in Washington State, however, in 1920 there was a Luther Modrell right next door in Idaho. It looks like this family resided in Washington but moved to Idaho between 1907-1910. Wonder if Emma could have been Aley's middle name perhaps? I am going to attach a copy of the census for you, and e-mail it to your home address, but in case it doesn't come through in readable fashion, here is the information from it: Luther was the Head of household; owned his own home with a mortgage; he was 43 years old and born in Montana; mother and father's birth places, unknown; occupation was "tractor engineer" Living with Luther was: wife Emma, age 37 born in Idaho; father born in Montana, mother ? son Roy, age 20, born in WASHINGTON daughter Mabel, age 18, born in WASHINGTON son Harry, 14, born in WASHINGTON daughter Minnie, 13, born in WASHINGTON daughter Winnifred, 10, born in Idaho son Floyd, age 7, born in Idaho Hope this is the family you are looking for, Kathryn! Good luck with your research! 3. Hi Kathryn Don't expect that the uk gives very many lessons on US census records... <grin> the 1890 census was basically destroyed by fire and water (pre-microfilming). Washington state did have a state census done in 1889 as part of the statehood thing... To the best of my knowledge there is no state wide every person index... but there are plenty of county extractions.
