I am trying to locate more information about my g-grandfather's family from Prussia. Following is the only information I have concerning him: Name: Martin Wilhelm Kohls D.O.B.: 11 Nov 1834 Location: Pommern (Pourmern), Vopersnow? Maybe Wohernow?? Married: About 1865 in Prussia Married to: Auguste Potratz whose father was Christian Potratz Died: 29 April 1918 in Bulverde, Texas Wilhelm and Auguste immigrated to the United States in 1871 via Galveston, TX with their two sons, (K)Carl Kohls and Ernst Carl Kohls. The information I have on Karl is that he was born 21 August 1866, Karlin (Coelin), Pommern, Prussia; Ernst was born 11 July 1869 in same location. However, one record I've found shows that Ernst was born in Oden?, Germany. Family stories say that Wilhelm was a mayor/burgermeister/??? in the area from which he came and that he left due to political and religious reasons. Since I've been unable to pinpoint an actual town/village, etc. for where he lived, it's made looking for him in Prussia somewhat difficult. I have a bit more information if needed. I would be most grateful to anyone who could point me in the right direction for researching more of Wilhelm's family; parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc., etc. Thanks so much.
