The tram goes out to the archives which are located in a new building in a new shopping complex. Nice facilites and nice people BUT the Mormons have microfilms almost every churchbook there. In fact, you dont view the church books - but instead look at the microfilms. They do have regular books that are not micorofilmed that are interesting. However, the DDB (German National Library) in Leipzig has a much better selection. Its a wonderful library. But like many european libraries you do not have direct access to the DDB books. but must order them for delivery to your desk several hours later. The Univeristy of Leipzig library is very good too but only on materials about Saxony - not about West Prussia. If you are visiting Battrow with a guide, then consider going to the Catholic Archives in Koslin. There are a few more Battrow church book records there. But you need Polish language and someone who knows the archives to make use of it. I dont know about Berlin. Perhaps someone on this list knows if there are unfilmed records there .
