Dear List Members, What is the German given (Christian) name that is equivalent to the English given name Walter? A 'Google' search engine search has produced "Walther" and possibly "Waldhar". Would this be correct? Thank you, Bette
That would be Werther, as in The Sorrow of Young Werther. Good, thank you Judy, knowing this may hopefully make some difference in my search efforts. I had two Uncles, one born in Berlin. One born in Poland. Both of their names were Walter. Spelled just like that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bette McIntosh" <bmcintosh@new.rr.com> To: <prussia-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 12:42 PM Subject: [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] given name "Walter" in German? > Dear List Members, > > What is the German given (Christian) name that is equivalent to the > English given name Walter? > > A 'Google' search engine search has produced "Walther" and possibly > "Waldhar".
