    2. Hi - According to Hans Bahlow's Dictionary of German Names: Stabe (Hamburg) means Low German Stave (quite frequently in Hamburg), see Johan mit dem Stave. Staben (frequently in Hamburg) corresponds to place name Stavos in Mecklenburg, like Stabenow (Hamburg) besides Stavenow. You MIGHT also find it spelled sometimes as Stabenau.
