    2. Lois, I very much doubt that Sudargen was ever part of East Prussia, particularly if it isn't listed in MEYERS ORTS, etc. Perhaps other researchers experienced in Russian jurisdictions can determine this more accurately. There are several places named Lasdehnen, but you probably want the one located nearest to Sudargen. That Lasdehnen was also known as "Haselberg" and it was located in Kreis Schlossberg (formerly known as Kreis Pillkallen) East Prussia. The FHL has Evangelical Church records for Haselberg for the period 1683 to 1835. I believe other villages are included in these records as well, but you can check this out for yourself. Look under "Haselberg, East Prussia" for film numbers, etc. You might try writing to a Homeland Organization for Kreis Schlossberg to see if they can tell you more about your area of Haselberg/Lasdehlen. Contact: Anschrift der Kreisgemeinschaft -- Kreis Schlossberg Rote-Kreuz-Strasse 6 D-21423 Winsen (Luhe) Germany The above is a volunteer organization. It may speed up response time if you include as much data about the family in question as possible. Also, its always polite to offer to pay any fees and copying charges or to offer a donation to the organization. I've not corresponded with this particular group, however, so don't know what information they have, but believe it's worth a try. Karen B.
