Hello Josie, The Kaltevorwek place you are looking for is probably spelled with a "vorwerk" at the end, as Kaltevorwerk. This vorwerk indicated a farm or residence outside the castle walls, etc. Other spellings are probably Kaltvorwerk, Kaltenvorwerk or even Kaltes Vorwerk. Around 1871, there were several places called Kaltvorwerk and they all seem to have been in the province of Silesia, Prussia. If you have no other information, you may still have to do more local research on TILGNER in order to determine from which area of Silesia he originated. There were three Regierungsbezirk (main districts) in Silesia (Breslau, Liegnitz and Oppeln.) The Kaltvorwerk places were located in each of them. In fact, they were very small locations and most likely connected to a nearby town -- instead of officially being on their own. If you can learn more about which "Kaltevorwek" would be the right one, you could then proceed to looking for records of this family. For what it's worth, there was a Kaltvorwerk located just north of Fraustadt and one just north of Ohlau, Silesia. Respectively, they are now Hetmanice and Zimnica, Poland. Other Kaltvorwerk locations should also be considered until a definite place of origin can be determined. Karen B. Whitmer ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
