Patricia - are you sure von Seelhorst is the surname? It seems to me that Freiherr is the surname, from Seelhorst; von means of or from in most cases. There is a tiny little gathering of houses in the Landkreis of Hannover in Germany, called Seelhorst, and also another place which is a forestry house, called Seelhorst, in the Kreis (county) of Samter (both per Meyers-Orts 1912 Gazetteer, page 791). It is very easy to see how this happens, (which is often) just don't want you to go down the wrong road Maureen ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Freiherr is actually a title meaninng 'Baron' von Seelhorst. I was a bit confused too when I first saw this but checked it out to find that it indicates the hierarchal level of this particular Baron. Still haven't got much on them yet Thanks for your interest Maureen Patricia ----- Original Message ----- From: <Spaghettitree@aol.com> To: <prussia-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 12:13 PM Subject: Re: [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] von Seelhorst > > Patricia - are you sure von Seelhorst is the surname?
