Thank you so much for checking. I do have both these references. There was a large group of the Tigges name in Iowa and nearby, but they seem not to be related to my Henry. A William Tigges (older than Henry who came alone to America) is also found in New Jersey, but I have found nothing more about him. It is possible he is related. My main difficulty is trying to find his village in Prussia. I have had people suggest places as widely separated as Lienen in Westphalen, Nuremberg and Leipzig. Not being able to read German has been a serious deterrent to finding records. In all the censuses, his place of origin is listed only as Prussia.
