Kathy, I also have Schaut in my family living primarily in Pennsylvania. They are descendents of Jacob 1711-1790. The majority of my research has been in USA. My grandfather did, however, visit Ringingin, Germany. He believed they originated there and he visited with some relatives. This was in the 1950s.
