    3. Looking at FamilySearch.org data, this appears to be where your information came from. Checking out the source, I'd say this data was extracted from FHL INTL Film 490229 described as Heiraten 1863-1872 (Marriages 1863-1872). This means it's practically handed to you on a silver platter, i.e. which church books to look in for more information. My suggestion is that you get the film and read the full entry and also note the name of the church. The general description of the film series is Kirchenbuch, 1610-1874 (Parish Book 1610 to 1874) and includes 40 films in the series. That's means it was a populous parish--most of the churches I've looked at have one to three films. You have a treasure trove to mine but it will take work. You can also do some research by looking at extractions from the same parish books with the Wischmann and other relevant surnames. For example, in the same batch with Hermann an Helene's marriage, you can find the marriages of: 1. HERMANN WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 11 APR 1864 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 2. JOHANN WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 06 OCT 1868 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 3. ANNA WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 06 OCT 1868 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 4. JOHANN WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 17 DEC 1870 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 5. HERMANN WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 26 JAN 1868 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 6. CHRISTINE WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 11 JUN 1869 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 7. MARGARETHA WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 11 JUL 1868 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen 8. CATHARINE WISCHMANN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 16 DEC 1865 Evangelisch, Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen By checking out each one, you will be able to see which ones have the same parents as Hermann. I checked them out, and none have same parents. A few have fathers named Wilhelm, though. In FamilySearch.org, Helene's surname is given as Knipschen while you give it as Knipscher. Helene is the only person in the batch with the surname Knipschen and it looks like she was born in Speldorf which is 1.5 miles west of Muelheim an der Ruhr. I don't see any films for Speldorf. From its website at speldorf.de I'd say it's part of the municipality of Muelheim an der Ruhr. If it's a tiny place, she could have attended church (and been christened) in a nearby town. There are no lisitings for Knipschen in the online Germany phone book but there are a few (8) for Knipscher. Is your data coming from FamilySearch.org or some other source? Again, I suggest you get a look at the actual marriage entry and determine for yourself what Helene's surname is. Also, what was her father's given name? It's shown in FamilySearch.org as Knipschen!! It looks to me like the extraction was flawed or that the mother, Elise Knipschen was a widow or that Helene was illegitimate. Seeing the entry could be very helpful. The listing in FamilySearch.org shows Hermann's parents: Father: WILHELM WISCHMANN Mother: ANNA RATING It also shows Hermann's and Helene's age at marriage to be 29 and 24 suggesting birth years of 1835 and 1840 respectively. Using these years, plus or minus 2 years, I couldn't find births for either one. BTW, there are 9 entries for people with surname RATING in the same extraction batch. I apologize if you already know all of this.
