Thank you, Maureen. Miffiffippi.... what an interesting picture that makes. ;) I went to familysearch.org and tried locating films for Difsen, but couldn't find anything. So then I tried Dissen and came up with this list: Geburten, Heiraten, Tote (Dissen) 1808-1812 FHL INTL Film 1272958 Item 4 Taufen, Heiraten, Tote, Konf. 1814-1839 (Kleekamp, Westbarthausen, Ostbarthausen) FHL INTL Film 1051772 (not sure how Kleekamp relates to Dissen, but that film showed up on the search for Dissen) Geburten, Heiraten, Tote (Dissen) 1813 Taufen, Heiraten, Tote, Konf.(Dissen) 1822-1836 FHL INTL Film 1272959 Taufen, Heiraten, Tote, Konf.(Dissen) 1837-1851 Taufen, Heiraten, Tote (Dissen) 1852-1856 FHL INTL Film 1272960 Thank you for the look up in Meyers-Orts. Hopefully I am on the right track here. Kathy www.Kiva.org - loans that change lives. (the book). There is no listing for Difsen; there are 3 for Dissen, one of them a Dorf in Hannover; 2,000 people in 1910, with a Standesamt and Ev. Parish. There are many times the old script will show a double s as appearing to be an f s to modern American eyes. And it will show up that way oftentimes in old U.S. records, too, or look like a doube f; think Miffiffippi. Maureen In a message dated 9/5/2009 10:45:19 A.M. Some of my Menke family came from Bünde, just west of Hannover, so I'm hoping Difsen is in really close proximity.
