Hi all, I'm looking for some help to try and verify or refute the following information we have been given about our ancestors. Could anybody please let me know where can I look up this history?? During the reign of Maxamilian II 1527-76, King of Bohemia and of Hungary and "Holy Roman Emperor", a member of the Emperor's bodyguard named Sebastian Schrome, saved the Emperor's life (from assassination ?) at great peril to himself. For this deed he was ennobled under the name of Sebastian von Schramm (Shraum ?), and according to the Patent of Nobility, made a Baron, signed and sealed by the Emperor at Vienna November 2, 1564. The Seal attached to the Parchment is of gold with a heavy gold fringe. Scarlet and Gold are the colours. By a special remainder, the female descendants and their issue, are entitled to use the Crest forever. The members of the family served the state in various ways, in civil and military life. I do have a copy of the Patent of Nobility that was given to my GG Grandfather Maxamillian von Schramm by his brother Victor von Schramm. Thanks for your help in advance. Sue
