Hi Marily, I found Charles Dorter through a parent search on familysearch website. Charles Dorter Male Birth: About 1834,,Preussen Death: 4 Nov 1916 Father: Phillip Dorter Mother: Frederica Melsine Spouse: Margaret Clough Marriage: 26 Mar 1860 Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia I suppose you have the birth certificate of Charles? You have a birth date of 1832? Where did you get the birth date from. If you have the right birth date of Charles you can e-mail the city archive in Koblenz. [email protected] Ask for the birth certificate with any extra certificates available. They are called "Beiakten". I the city archive does not have the information they should refer you to the archive which should have the info you are looking for. Every city archive is different as far as the information that is being stored there. At the time I can ask my fellow researcher on the Rheinland-Pfalz list if they have the "Dorter" family in their family tree. Greetings from sunny California Yvonne Scholz P.S. The city archive has a website which I haven't tried yet but here it is www.stadtarchiv.koblenz.de ----- Original Message ----- From: "Watson Family" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2009 4:08 AM Subject: [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] re Charles (Karl?) Hi Yvonne, I found only the year Charles was born from his naturalisation request, which was a great bonus. Paul has found Allenfeld which is about 45 miles from Koblenz. He suggests that Dorter is a corruption of DORDER of which there are quite a few in the German phone book. I have Charles marriage, death and his naturalisation. He actually came out on the emmigrant ship "Burlington" as a cook from London end of 1856 He met Margaret on board the same ship. I have now re- read the naturalisation forms again and he has his full birth date 2nd April 1832 but I think going to get his full birth certificate would be the way to go. From there I may be able to get his parents marriage many thanks for your kind and generous help .It is indeed appreciated Cheers Marilyn from Western Australia At 03:43 AM 26/06/2009, you wrote: >Hi Marily, >I found Charles Dorter through a parent search on familysearch website. >Charles Dorter >Male >Birth: About 1834,,Preussen >Death: 4 Nov 1916 >Father: Phillip Dorter >Mother: Frederica Melsine >Spouse: Margaret Clough >Marriage: 26 Mar 1860 Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia > >I suppose you have the birth certificate of Charles?
