G'day everyone I have recently received oral information that a third cousin is supposed to have died in the Battle of Stalingrad which lasted from August 1942 to February 1943. I do not have any further information, and it's possible that my cousin was taken prisoner and died in a Russian POW camp. Does anyone know of any sources for information on German World war II casualties, and in particular for the Battle of Stalingrad? Thanks David Armstrong Maylands, Western Australia
Hi David, two of my uncles died in Russia as well, won was fatally wounded and the other died in a POW camp. This link is a searchable database for Word War II. http://www.volksbund.de After your search they'll aks you some questions like e-mail etc. You have to fill out the form in order to get a result. I can't remember if the website is in English as well. Hi David, there is one more important link http://www.dd-wast.de That's where you can order the service record of your cousin. If you have problems with following out the forms, let me know and I'll help you. The previous link pertains to where your cousin might be burried.
