    3. Deborah, your names of Fuerst, Wrosch, & Schultz sound very German. The area around Danzig (Gdansk) was a very German area of Prussia, tho now in Poland. Didn't see the village name of "Plock" on any maps I have, but they are hard to read. You might want to google Pomerania or Pomerania + maps or + genealogy & see if you can find Plock on a map. Maybe even Plock + maps. None of your names fit into my family either. Hope you can find a connection thru the mail lists & message boards. Some of the replies to mine occur after 3 or 4 yrs. Good luck!! Judy Petersen On Tue, Oct 11, 2011 at 7:09 PM, Deborah Frontczak < deborahfrontczak@yahoo.com> wrote: > ok, Judy Petersen, that's a really good point. thank you!! 3. Yes, I assumed they were German names also, altho all my ancestors so far have listed Polish as their mother tongue.  My one grandma, descended from the Fuerst/Wrosch line, was Kashub and remembered some Kashub nursery rhymes.  And once I saw Wrosch spelled Wrosz!!  :)   Płock is directly east of Poznan, almost to Warsaw, south of Gdansk.  You're right, it's hard to tell from maps, but it looks like it may have been right on the border of Pommerania and Russia around the turn of the century (1900).   Thanks for checking my names against yours!  and I appreciate the encouragement!   Deborah Frontczak _____________________________________________________ Researching Genealogy (Detroit, MI and Poland) for: Frontczak, Owczarek, Fuerst, Wrosch, Langa, Endert, Stefanski, Mrozowski, Sobieski, Tomaszewski, Kowalski, Ksiazkiewicz, Bukowski. 3. Have you checked the Poznan records online? I don't have the link because it doesn't pertain to my family, but you might google it. Also google Kashub or Kashubia - I also remember seeing something about that on wikipedia, with lnks for more info. I think the Kashubs were located in that Baltic region between Slupsk (formerly Stolpe) & Gdansk.
