Hello,   I was in Chicago at the Newberry Library last weekend but couldn't find anything about this place.  I'll probably have to order the records at the FHLibrary.   I was contacted from Germany by a distant cousin who wrote "Schnadtschmidt is a very rare surname, he is only be found in the county of Herford", “a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, located in the lowlands between the hill chains of the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest.
