Mary, the LDS church has filmed the card file of emmigrants leaving Brandenburg (central part of Prussia). http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=767068&disp=Auswanderungskartei &columns=*,0,0 The original cards are in Brandenburgisches Landeshauptarchiv in Potsdam (near Berlin, former capital of Prussia). Since in America your ancestor was written Libbons or Libbens I gues it could also be Lübbers which is a very common name. The American people don't know the german ü and understand i. If you pronounce "Lübbers" in German it sounds like "Libbors". So you have to play with many possibilities if you check a database.
