    1. [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] Klara Hubert and Johann Toleikis b. 1890

    3. Hi, I'm re-new to the list.  I was browsing the archives to see if I missed anything in the last ten years, but that was taking too long.   I'm trying to find info on Johann and Klara Hubert Toleikis from cousins who may still live in the area.  Klara was my great grandfather's sister - Erich Otto Hubert.  Their parents were Wilhelm Max Gottlieb Hubert b. 1865 and Hedwich Martha Dorothea Buettow Hubert b. 1867.  The Hubert family lived in Tilsit (Sovetsk), and I have one reference that says the Toleikis family lived in Schompetern (?), but that does not show up on a map.   Does anyone on the list happen to be a Toleikis or Hubert?  Do you know what the actual town name of Schompetern may be?  My family has not been able to find anything past the 1820s from this area; еще раз спасибо. Thanks for your help, Cory Stimpson   Researching HUBERT, BUETTOW, RUDAT, KUDILSKI, MAYKUS, GEHRKE, BUNGE, SCHULTZ, BLUMEYER, RATZE, BERGMANN, MEYER

    3. Cory, I'm not related to any of those names, but I did find Tilsit on Jewishgen.org, which is a great locator for all European towns, including non-Jewish. Sovetsk is the older native name of Tilsit. Couldn't find Schompetern. Tilsit is in present day Russia. If you have never used Jewishgen, go to www.jewishgen.org. At the top, use the dropdown for databases & click on town finder. New page - click on Communities database. Then on search for places by name. You enter Tilsit & search all of Eastern Europe or confine your search to Russia. Either will give you a few possibilites for the town name, in addition to it's location, towns within a 10 mi radius, & choice of 3 maps to see the location. I use Jewishgen all the time for my tiny Czech villages. Good luck. Judy in Alaska On Sun, Aug 7, 2011 at 9:29 AM, Cory Stimpson <clstimpson74@yahoo.com>wrote: > Hi, I'm re-new to the list. 3. Anne, Can you give more information please? I suspect they emigrated to Australia from your email address - what information do you already have about this? Where did they arrive and when? Do you also have approximate dates of birth for August and Marie? Where have you already found information about them? Kind regards, Bronwyn. I don?t think it was an official passport, but it was necessary in order to leave the country. I have it ? it?s wonderful ? lists his pob/dob, his wife?s name & stats, and their daughter?s as well !!
