    1. [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] Christian Friedrich HERBST
    2. Beyers Herbst
    3. Hi there, I'm researching my family tree and have traced back my ancestors to Konigsberg, East Prussia. I would appreciate any help on finding more information about Christian Friedrich HERBST. He was a sword maker and arrived in South Africa in 1752 (presumably from East Prussia). Married Catharina STOLTS on 10 Oct 1756. Died 1794. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    3. Information from the Bethel Cemetery in Renville County, MN lists Herman Albert Reinke, husband of Bertha Duenow Reinke and brother of Albertina Reinke Sell, b. 10 Mar 1845 in Neu Doebritz, Kr Regenwalde, Pommern, Pr. I believe Neu Doebritz is in Poland now. Can anybody help us find it's Polish name and/or identify the church parish associated with Neu Doebritz. Thanks for any help. Arletta and Jim Webster

    3. It appears you have a bit more research to do before you can delve into Prussian records. Konigsberg was a larger area with several smaller communities. See the following listings in the LDS Library Catalog . . . http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=localityhitlist&columns=*%2C0%2C0&PLACE=Konigsberg&PARTOF=&prePLACE=Konigsberg&prePARTOF= You'll need to know which of the smaller communities where your ancestors lived (often found in the records of their new country) in order to find their names and extend your family tree. However, you could be in luck because some of the church records in the Konigsberg listings go back to the mid 1600s. Good luck, LGO -----Original Message----- >From: Beyers Herbst <beyers@eventsplanner.co.za> > >Hi there, > >I'm researching my family tree and have traced back my ancestors to >Konigsberg, East Prussia. 3. Dewey, Can you elaborate more fully as to how you obtained the Pommern, Prussia military service information for your KITTEL? I am looking for military information/records for two persons known to have been in the Prussian military (Stettin, Pomerania area); in the one case prior to 1864 and in the otrher case, prior to 1872. Tütz is now named Tuczno, Poland. Does anyone know how I can search or obtain cemetery records for the town of Tütz/Tuczno? I am hoping that I may come across my ancestors family that may be buried there. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. 3. Dewey I should included in the first e-mail , that what I found of Bernhard J. T. Kittle , is no more that what You already have. So about the only other thing that I know of , is for You to check out some LDS microfims , However there are several listed and the town of Storkow may be a Kreis , which means that You may have to view a lot of films.
