Hi Jony, I don't think anybody will laugh, maybe smile, but in an admirable way only. I remember coming to Canada at age 15, very shy, unable to say even the word yes, and people were so kind and delighted when even one word of English would escape my lips after silence of 3 month, after that there was no stopping me. No, nobody will laugh. I would also like to encourage those who are learning German to listen to the German Radio - Deutsche Welle - best heard via Satellite, even if you understand nothing at first, words will soon become familiar. I started out several years ago using Easy Translator 2. It is now up to #4 and costs about $60. Mine was about $15. It has worked well over the years as I have a second cousin in Germany who does not speak a word of English and I do not speak German. However, we write back and forth several times a year with the help of the computer. This is a great web site. I have found that my translator program does not translate all the words. Hi All I've noticed a few postings regarding translation services and thought I'd put another option out there. I've found the volunteer translators at Freelang very helpful. Basically you type (or copy) your text into a box (max 800 characters at a time) and a real person sends back a translation within a week. I've used their service for German and Hungarian translations and wouldn't have managed to write (or read) as many letters and emails in other languages without them. Another thing Connie When I get to a German language written page . I right click on the page , and a long window of different options pops up. One of those options at the lower end reads ( translate to English ) , when I left click onto that option , the whole page translates into English . However it is still in the German style of writing , with the syntax of the sentenaces being different. I have a program called "German Assistant" which allows wide latitude in translations. You can go word by word, sentence by sentence or the whole document at once. You have to help it select the right word when it means several things and that sort of thing, but it works well for me. It also has an audio feature with it if you want to hear the words at the same time. Greg Rehme
