I cannot be sure about Flosia and Lalesch but they might be Klonia and Salesch which are also villages in the area. Regards Bill Remus
My g. grandmother was Adelheide Schmidt 1832-1912. I don't know where she was born other than Germany . She married Balduin Rohden 1833-1907 . Came here in 1884. Settled in Chicago. I know this is a common name but I thought I would throw it out there!! Dolores ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I posted on here, but I thought I'd give it another shot. I was curious if anyone had any info on these surnames or if anyone else was looking for them, etc. My g-g-grandpa Friedrich Oltersdorf was born in (what we believe) was East Prussia (we believe in Konigsberg)in approx. 1850 and his wife (whom we cannot find ONE SINGLE piece of information on after YEARS-EMMA STEINKE who was born in what we believe again, to be Konigsberg in approx. 1850 or so. They emigrated to the USA in 1883 (settling in Michigan. We have lots of info on them once they arrived, but NONE from their life in Germany. EMMA Steinke is the absolute most elusive person of all, but any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much. Heather Goddard
I am hoping someone can help me find some towns. I am currently looking at a microfilm of Zempelburg, West Prussia. My Schmidt family comes from the town of Nichorcz. The towns names I am having trouble with are something like Zbose.....Flosia......Lalesch. I am new to reading German letters, so some of the letters may not be right. These towns would be around the Zempelburg area in 1870-1878 the time of the microfilm. The map I have doesn't have any towns that look anything like the names I have given. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Lonnie Scallen _________________________________________________________________ Mortgage rates near historic lows. Hello list....I have found two church records that I am having a hard time translating. I was wondering if anyone on this list could help me. I saved the page in PDF (adobe) format so I could send them. Please let me know if anyone can help me with this. Sue
Try this Lonnie... http://www.jewishgen.org/ShetlSeeker/loctown.htm Your downfall may be by not having "correct" spellings but maybe something close will come up. "in a list of officers of the Schleswig-Holstein army from 1848-1851 is Friedrich Wassmann. (Source book : Jan Schlürmann: Die Schleswig-Holsteinische Armee 1848-1851, Tönning 2004, page 639) He was a Premier Lieutenant with the artillery brigade and came to this unit on March 11th, 1850 from Hannover. The war of 1848-1851 started as a civil war of the German people of Schleswig-Holstein against the reign of Denmark. Later on other German states like the Kingdom Prussia and the Kingdom Hannover sent officers and troops to support the Schleswig-Holstein army. I think Friedrich Wassmann was one of these officers from the Hannover army who was sent to Schleswig-Holstein." I'm wondering if there is a place to find the birthplace of those in the Hannover army. I believe Friedrich is the brother to my great grandfather, Anton Wassmann. Both came from Hannover, Anton born about 1816 and Friedrich about 1820, and both came to the US. I have been unable to find their exact birthplace in order to search their German roots. Does anyone have any records for a Franz Wagaman? He was born in Prussia in 1930 and married to Charlotte Mohn who was born in 1932. They settled in Lancaster County, PA, probably in the Neffsville area.. Maybe Lititz. Thank you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karl Roussin" <kroussin@fidnet.com> To: <prussia-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 6:01 PM Subject: Re: [PRUSSIA-ROOTS] WASSMANN Marian Here are 7 records online of different Friedrich Wassmann names , some are spelled Wasmann 1.
