    2. Would like to share write-up regarding my great-grandfather from the year of his death to see if any of you have heard of him or can help me make a connection. Written in the year 1939 in a Carroll Co. Tenn, Paper[ Aged Citizen Taken By Death S.L. Pruitt known by his friends and neighbors as "Pa Kirgie",died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Oliver Fields on Tues of last week after an illness of 6 weeks. The funeral was held at Bethlehem Church on Wednesday afternoon Dev. 27, 1939, conducted by Rev. Walter Joyner with burial at the church cemetery. Grandsons were active pallbearers; Otis and Vernard Hastings, Curtis Turner, Rex Pruitt, Cliford Forrest and Bolis Hill. Mr Pruitt whose full name was Solomon Likirgis Pruitt was born in the state of Kentucky Nov. 16, 1853,and died Dec. 26, 1953 in Carroll Co. Tenn at the age of 86. When still a young man, he moved to Carroll Co. Tenn. and was married to Elizabeth Carnel. To this union 6 children were born, three survive. Mrs. Ella Ingle of Crowell Texas, Mrs. Ida Turner of Detroit Michigan and Mrs. Rita Hastings of the home community near Cannon School. After the death of his first wife, he was married to Mary E. Carnel who survives and has so devotedly cared for him in his declining years. To this union 12 children were born, seven survive: Mrs. Ruthie Turner of Detroit Michigan, Mrs. Eula Hicks, Mrs. Beatrice Hendley, Mrs. Oliver Fields, Roy and Sherman Pruitt of the home community. Three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Linn of Bardwell, Kentucky, Mrs.Kate Sellers of Crowell, Texas and Mrs. Sis True of Lindfil, Kentucky. There are also 31 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild to morn his passing. ________________________________________________________________________ Solomon was not on the Tn census until 1880 and must have married sometime late 1880 or early 1881 according to the date of his first-born's birth. The 1890 census was destroyed by fire and he and his second wife have a mixture from both families show up in the 1900 Carroll Co. Tenn. Census. In the 1880 census he is still single and living in the household of S.R. Birdwell as a laborer.
