Rebecca was the sixth child of Henry Prewitt (Pruitt) and Rebecca Dobbs of Henrico county, VA. She was born about 1704 and married James McGehee in 1721. Other children of Henry and Rebecca were: Thomas b abt 1692 (married Mary Magdalene Chastain) and died in 1759, Andrew born 1696 (married Agnes) and died in 1763, Hugh born abt 1697, Richard (married Frances Murrell), and Uriah (married Elizabeth -- my line). James McGehee was the son of William McGehee and Mary Johnson. He was born in New Kent county, VA abt 1699 and died Oct 22, 1774 in Granville county, NC. He and Rebecca had 9 children: William, Benjamin, James Jr, Nathaniel, Nancy, John, Joseph, Sarah, and Michael. Henry Pruitt appears to be the son of Thomas who arrived as an indentured servant from Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1636 and had at least 3 sons: John, William, and Henry. I am searching Salisbury records and sorting through the large number of Prewitts in Salisbury and surrounding towns. Hope this helps.
