Some researchers have them listed as sons of Samuel Pruitt, Ist, and Lucy Owen. As a direct descendant of Samuel and Lucy, I have never found them listed as their sons, except in someone's research posted on the internet. PLEASE.. is there anyone out there who has documented proof regarding their parents? Thank you, June Waymire Pruitt jwhtpruitt@up-link.net

    3. June To assist you I have transcribed the following from the book "Prewitt-McDonald Genealogy and Allied Families" by Robert H. Dean & pearl Dauley. Published in 1970. Jim Hewitt "The following accounts of the early Prout (Prewitt) families in Virginia and Kentucky were taken from The Huguenot Journal, Volumes 2 and 7, published by the Huguenot Society, and Lineage Chart, file No. 8256. Daughters of the American Colonists Lineage Book: Roger Pruit and Mary, his wife settled at Mankin, Virginia, in 1699. Among their children were Henry Pruit, who settled in Henrico County, Virginia; General George Byrd Pruit, who lived for a time in Halifax County, Virginia; and Thadeus Pruit, who lived in Caroline County, Virginia, in 1754. Among General George Byrd Pruit's children were Michael Pruit, who married Elizabeth Simpkins and died in Shelby County, Kentucky, in 1798; and Byrd Pruit, who married Ellen Hurt. Michael Pruit's children were Rachel (Rachael), James, Judith, Michael Jr., Elisha, Byrd, Joseph, Robert, Joshua, and Elizabeth. A descendant of this line is Mrs. Allen Gay Jones of Winchester, Kentucky. The Virginia census of 1782 to 1785 gives Hannah Pruit, four in family, Halifax, County, Virginia; John Pruit seven in family, Pittsylvania County, Virginia; Samuel Pruit, six in family, Pittsylvania County, Virginia; Joseph Pruit, five in family, Halifax County, Virginia; Byrd Pruit, two in family, Halifax County, Virginia......... There were many Pruits who moved from Virginia to South Carolina and Kentucky. Among them was Robert Pruit, who's will was probated in Fayette County, Kentucky, in 1819; his wife was named Patsey; his children were Betsey who married J John Smith; James, Vaul, Allen, Levi, William, Nelson, Henry, Polly who married a Cavens; Robert and Willis. Byrd Pruit also went to Kentucky. Michael Pruit settled there. Samuel Pruit, a soldier of the American Revolution, went to South Carolina first and then to Kentucky............
