For the past year or so there has been mention of a "Thomas Prewitt, b. 1616 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England" on this list as well as in several surname websites. And there is a record of a Thomas Prewitt that was transported to Virginia in 1636. But how do we know that the Thomas that was born in Salisbury is the same Thomas that came to Virginia? I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest, but as a descendant (yet unproven) of Thomas, I would greatly appreciate, as would many others, any proof or information regarding this Thomas connection. Can anybody cite some sources about Thomas of Salisbury and his coming to America? Any information would be a help to alot of researchers. Bob Prewitt of Aurora, CO
Thomas Prewitt and seven others were transported to Virginia via Charles River Co. in 1636 Patent Book 1. VA. With this, you are able to check for yourself the information. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Prewitt77@aol.com> To: <PRUITT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 02, 2000 12:05 PM Subject: [PRUITT] Thomas Prewitt/Pruitt (sp?) > For the past year or so there has been mention of a "Thomas Prewitt, b. > 1616 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England" on this list as well as in several > surname websites.
