MOSIER, 24, says, "my father said he did not want payment in confederate money.... He was made to take it by military power.... My mother was present at the time.... I am dau. of the complainant." - Deposition of John C. ALEXANDER, aged 54 - Deposition of Wm. S. SMITH, aged 44. 5335 - 1853 Nov. 21 - (Div. Bill) - Lucy A. BERRY against Thomas H. BERRY, Hardin RAGLAND, Admr. of Francis PRUETT, dec'd. and exor. of Richard PRUETT, dec'd., David PHILIPS and Benjamin BERRY all citizens of Wilson Co., TN. Your oratrix Lucy BERRY would show that she married with defdt. Thomas H. BERRY at her mother's house in Wilson County on 11 Feb. 1851. At the time of the marriage she was owner of a negro, bequeathed to her by her father, which defdt. made way with shortly after the marriage. RAGLAND is exor. of oratrix's father, Richard PRUETT, and the admr. of Frances PRUETT, dec'd. oratrix's mother. She and husband in Aug. 1852 agreed to separate. Thomas H. conveyed to defdt. PHILIPS as trustee all right and interest in oratrix's father's and mother's estate. Husband left the state to go to VA on business she supposes. She drew 21 3/4a of land in Wilson Co., TN.... She wants her name be changed to Lucy A. PRUETT her maiden name. 1855 Apr. 28 - (At.B.) Lucy A. PRUETT, a feme sole, against Thomas Humphrey BERRY, of Wilson County and Nathan LANNOM of Rutherford. Her father, Richard PRUETT, died in Wilson County in 1850 testate ... by will left a negro boy named George of dark color and 6 or 7 years of age, to complt. - Deposition of S.E. CLARK says she is acquainted with Humphrey BERRY, the defdt. He lived at Cairo in Sumner Co. "I saw him in the company of a woman named CHENSWORTH.
