I also was told he was born in Linden, Cass County, TX. I am working on that line now. His father was William Prewitt and his mother was Octavia (or Octavie)Delphi Smith. If that rings a bell, I will give you more information that I have(which is not really very much). Some of James William's siblings were Katie Bell Prewitt, Thomas Jefferson Prewitt, Joseph Lewis Prewitt, and Jno.B. Prewitt(I think his name was Johnathan Byrd Prewitt).
