Howdy from South Texas. I just subscribed to the Pruitt discussion group and what to introduce myself. Have bee interested in family research and have been stuck on my Prewitt/Pruitt family for a long time. Hopefully I'll find some cousins on this list. My grandmother was Mary Magdalene Prewitt b. 1884 in Texas. Her parents: William Martin Prewitt b. 1852 Tennesse/Elizabeth Ellen Jane Taylor b. 1859 Texas. Next generation back: William Prewitt b.1814 Tennessee/Hannah Caroline Collins b. 1820 NC. Now here is where I have no proofs: I THINK this Wm.'s parents may have been John Prewitt b. ca 1793 b. Tennessee/Elizabeth Tucker b. ca 1794 Tennessee (they were m. in Jefferson Co. TN 7 Sep 1812 and were in Monroe Co. TN 1830 and Bradley Co. TN 1840 & 1850. I also think John's father was William Prewitt b. 1762 VA and wife, Mary who d. 1835 and William d. Aug 1849 Meigs Co. TN. This William applied for South Carolina Rev War service from SC while living in Bradley Co. TN but application was refused. I will appreciate any comments or suggestions. Patsy Dearman Hand
