Posted on: Pruitt Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Pruitt/161 Surname: Pruitt, Link, Parker, Prewitt, Smith ------------------------- I am trying to find the parents and siblings (if any) of my ggfather Amos Pruitt. Amos married Susannah Parker (daughter of James Laffatt Parker and Mary Jane Smith) in 187x in Macoupin Illinois. They had 14 kids. I am told that Amos and his siblings were abandoned but that may be orphaned. Amos was born in November of 1852 or 1853. My source said that Amos said the first man that took him in was mean to him so he left but the second man was nice. I think that Amos is shown as Amos Prewitt lving with Lewis W. Link family in Macoupin county Illinois in 1860 census. The James L. Parker family shows an Amos Pruitt living with them in the 1870 Macoupin county Illinois census. I can find no trace of Amos's ancestors. A more prominent Amos Pruitt and his son Amos Pruitt that was also born in November of 1853 in Macoupin county Illinois complicates the search! Amos listed his father as being from North Carolina and his mother from Kentucky in several census. This Lewis W. Link was the son of John Bell Link and Cascinda Pruitt Link from Greene county Illinois which may or may not have any bearing on things. I can find no probate records for Amos or siblings in Illinois. Amos died January 2, 1902 in Baxter coounty Arkansas. Susannah married a Louis Pruitt in 1910 (after the census). Louis died in 1920 prior to the census. Louis appeared to have come out of nowhere as well. Rumor had Louis as being a brother or cousin of Amos but nothing to back it up. I am at a dead end. Can anyone help me? Thank you.
