Is there anyone else researching the family of William A. Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt from Wilson Co. TN.? William A. Purett/Pruitt/Prewitt who married Armelia W. Smith 11-25-1840 in Wilson Co. TN. The 1850 Wilson Co Census lists the family of William Pruitt. William Pruitt 40 M Farmer 600 VA. Armelia 35 F TN. Frances L 8 F TN. Martha E 7 F TN. Richard O. 6 M TN. William J. 4 M TN. Martha E Puritt married John R. Davenport were my GGGrandparents. Would like to hear from anyone else researching this line. Robert Miles rmiles@bloomingdaletel.com
For the past year or so there has been mention of a "Thomas Prewitt, b. 1616 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England" on this list as well as in several surname websites. And there is a record of a Thomas Prewitt that was transported to Virginia in 1636. But how do we know that the Thomas that was born in Salisbury is the same Thomas that came to Virginia? I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest, but as a descendant (yet unproven) of Thomas, I would greatly appreciate, as would many others, any proof or information regarding this Thomas connection. Can anybody cite some sources about Thomas of Salisbury and his coming to America? Any information would be a help to alot of researchers. Bob Prewitt of Aurora, CO
I haven't ordered copy of this Thomas Prewitt in Patent Book 1. So I am not able to say where he came from other than what I stated. Maybe the true record would show more?? Another Thomas Pruatt of Salisbury listed for Virginia 1654-1663, we do not know what became of him. This from: W.B. I am trying to find some information on the Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt families that were from Spotsylvania Co. Va. I have found this families name spelled all three ways. John Pruett was in Spotslvaina Co. Va. 1780 ,1782 and in 1786. I believe he had a son Richard in 1778 in Va. Possibly in Spotsylvania Co. Va.? There is a Richard Pruett listed in the 1820 Spotsylvania Co. Va census. The family left there and ended up in Wilson Co. TN. Richard is listed in the 1830 Wilson Co. TN census. Richard Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt had a son William A. Purett/Pruitt/Prewitt who married Armelia W. Smith 11-25-1840 in Wilson Co. TN. The 1850 Wilson Co Census lists the family of William Pruitt. William Pruitt 40 M Farmer 600 VA. Armelia 35 F TN. Frances L 8 F TN. Martha E 7 F TN. Richard O. 6 M TN. William J. 4 M TN. Martha E Puritt married John R. Davenport were my GGGrandparents. Does anyone know anything about this family? Richard may have been married to Franecs ??? Perhaps William Pruitt's grandmother was named Frances???? Always willing to accept corrections and any additional information on my Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt Family. Would appreciate any help and it is always good to find other family descendents. Another Direct Pruett/Pruitt/Prewitt Descendent. Robert Miles rmiles@bloomingdaletel.com

My g-grandfather, Josiah Vaughn was married to Mary Pruitt, both of Illinois. Roger Vaughn
I am looking for information about Dr. Olga Pruitt & Dr. Harrison Pruitt. They practiced medicine in Anderson, South Carolina in the 1930s and 1940s. I'd like to find out if they are related to my grandfather, Orion Vaughn Pruitt of Anderson.
I absolutely agree! I very much want to read others' posts and ESPECIALLY the responses to those posts. I am often faintly disappointed when someone posts a question or query and there are no followup posts. . .while I hope the poster has received replies directly rather than through the list, I would still like a chance to read those replies myself. You just never know when some small nugget will turn out to be relevant to your own searches. Plese keep posting so we can all learn. PREWITT-PRUITT-NEWSLETTER no. 30, Jan. 1996, lists 67 variations of the spelling of the Prewitt/Pruitt/Pruett etc. names. Should all 67 variations of the spelling go in the title of a book ?
