The book of Richard A. Prewitt that I have is "Isham Prewitt & Frances Maddox" and I looked at it but did not find any James Pruitts in Scotland County in Missouri. Of course, Richard has written about 7 books and he might be in one of the other ones. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. I am wondering if anyone has this book if they can see if there were any Pruitts in Missouri in Scotland County in the year of 1866. I am trying to find a James Pruitt and where he might have gone. He married the widow of a Family I am searching and I cannot find them after 1870 in that county in Missouri. She is a 2x grgrandmother name prior to marriage was Mary Ann Vasser. Posted on: Pruitt Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Pruitt?read=137 Surname: Prewitt ------------------------- Some of the following has no documentation, just being in the right place at the right time. I can prove my line to my gg grandfather, William Prewitt b. 1814 TN m. Hannah Caroline Collins in Monroe Co. TN in 1836. They left TN before 1870 and came to TX. I think William was the son of John Prewitt b. ca 1793 TN and Elizabeth Tucker b. CA 1794 TN who were married in Jefferson Co. TN in 1812. John and Elizabeth were in Monroe Co. in 1830 and Bradley Co. TN in 1840 & 50. I think this line goes back from John to William b. 1760 VA d.Aug 1849 Meigs Co. TN to Thomas Jr. b 1721 in Halifax Co. VA and so on. Can anyone help me prove any of this? I sure would appreciate any comments. Patsy Hand, ghand@viptx.net
Can anyone tell me if any of Richard Prewitt's books pertain to the family of Alexander Pruitt b ca 1755 d 1826 Spartanburg Co SC m Frances Palmer son of Thomas Pruitt Jr & Sarah. His siblings:William b 1760 Halifax Co VA; Samuel; Daniel.... ....OR Obediah Pruitt b 1752 Halifax Co VA m Mary Palmer.... I would like to order one if you have one that exists... Also, does anyone have the current email address of Richard Prewitt 1800 NW 81st St Des Moines IA 50325 I thought I had the right email address, but did not get a reply so I may not have the correct one. According to the information I have received, and this has not been confirmed by me personally, Solomon Pruitt, born 1780 in Georgia and died 1871 in Monroe County, Martin born 1796, and William C. born 1799 were all sons of Jacob and Mary Pruitt. They also had a sister Elizabeth and brothers John born Jan. 3, 1785 and died on July 11, 1842 in Barbour County, Alabama, Jacob born in 1800 and died in Muscogee County, Georgia, Robert born in 1802 and Henry born in 1806. According to my sketchy information, Jacob died in Jones County, GA. in 1821 and Mary died in 1822. I am not sure who Jacob's parents were but I also have a Jacob listed as having been born in 1807 in Elbert County. This Jacob was the brother of my great-great-grandfather Joshua. His parents were William born about 1770 in North Carolina and died 1832 in Elbert County. He was Married to Zilpha ? Does this help anyone or does anyone have additional information on this line. My great grandfather was Henry Tyler Pruitt born 1843 in Georgia. He was twice married, first to Millie Jane Reed and after her death to Hepsey Jane Vaughn who was my great grandmother. Hello group, Previously I have written asking the group for help on finding the parents of Archibald Pruitt, born 1819 and died in 1893. I really didn't know anything else to give a clue for help. I have recently been in contact with an elderly lady here who is related to the SISTER of Archibald Pruitt. I would like to put down all of the information that I know and hope someone can help. Here is what Ms. Aline Ballard, of Bedford County, Tennessee, has provided me with: "Arch Pruitt and Nancy Pruitt were son and daughter of Annie Cathey Pruitt. Annie Cathey Pruitt was the daughter of James Cathey. Arch and Nancy Pruitt were orphans and the only members of the family who lived in Bedford County. Nancy is my g-g-grandmother on my mother's side." Ms. Ballard also told me that they originally came from North Carolina and came to Maury County, Tennessee, first and then wound up in Bedford County, Tennessee. Thank you for reading this and giving me any help you can. Thanks. Linda Pitts
These two families have been confused over the years. I have a copy of a DAR paper that it is clearly my Jacob and connects to the Madison Co., AL PRUETT's. The Martin and William PRUETT from Elbert Co., GA connect to my Jacob and I think others have tried to connect it to your Jacob. This is where I think much research needs to be done( especially in Georgia) to hopefully "sort out" these two families. Hi Mary, Our Jacob b. c1760 Va and died in Alabama, he married Nancy Agnes Richey in the year 1786. This is a proven family with fact from records in Alabama where lots of History books contain Jacob and Nancy Agnes. In fact my Jacob came from Tenn. prior to Alabama. Your Jacob having died in Jones Co., Ga., and his wife as you stated, appears to be two different Jacob's. Not able to help you join our family. Sorry. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have moved my web page. A lot of folks visited it when it was located on aol. There are dozens of useful links as well as a list of my surnames and links to some of my family pages, including my Pruitt family. Hope you visit often. I know that this in indirectly concerning the Pruitt family, I received the following petition message from another list. Looks like one that most should agree with.
